Quan Chi’s POV.
Oookay I have something new cooking! This is a snippet of the prologue of “The Living Soul to My Dead Body” series! This series is kind of separate from Darker than Black (I have new plans for that too), and its main genre is romance. Yay!
Summary: Quan Chi is determined to continue what his mother left unfinished about Metalrealm sorcery, so he makes a sketchy alliance with the Orderrealm to compete with Shao Kahn and take the upper hand. But he doesn’t know what the main obstacle is going to be…
Four Years Ago,
Shao Kahn’s palace
…I gave him a simple nod.
A tray of crystal glasses appeared in the corner of my eye. The servant leaned forward. A folded piece paper poked out of his sleeve.
“Metalrealmers have a long history of reluctance for establishing partnerships with the other realms.” I spoke as I took the nearest glass of wine to the servant’s sleeve.
“That will soon come to an end.” Shao Kahn’s voice reduced to the usual rumbling growl. “We will achieve what Orderrealm couldn’t.” He tilted his chin up.
“You will need a few centuries.” I glanced down at what was messily written on the paper.
“Nothing to see here. He’s only talking. We will stick to the General.”

…Orderrealm diplomats moved together. They took a step back, their backs fully facing the walls. Several of the other guests turned their heads towards the same direction.
I scanned the guests all over again.
A black figure, a new one, moved through the crowd.
“Metalrealm is so different from Earthrealm.” Shao Kahn began showing off his little knowledge to me. Again. “They are more capable. And willing.”
“We will see.” I said.
“Indeed.” He grinned from ear to ear. He was easy to read. I knew this event was to, mainly, lure Metalrealm inside the palace to bargain it into a long term deal. He just gave up the information without trying. But in his case, one would usually be unable to stop him, despite having full knowledge of his plan.
“Ah, there she is.”
The same black figure stepped out of the crowd…

After getting together, Quan Chi grows this habit of feeling her pulse/heartbeat by taking her wrist or placing his head on her chest. Which is symbolically paradoxical to being a necromancer, and being HIM in general.

This song is about Ombra and Quan Chi in the time during which they were slooooowly developing feelings for each other, and what held them back. This is a persian song, again, but I could translate some parts of the lyrics sooo here we go!
The title means “wild beauty”

Watching Hellsing made me think…what if Quan Chi and Ombra had the same dynamic of “powerful woman controlling a murderous pet-man”?
It wouldn’t be exactly like Alucard and Integra, or Ciel and Sebastian, though. Exploring it in the exact dynamic will be left for an AU. What I mean is that Quan Chi wouldn’t officially be her “servant”, but he is practically like “I’ll do whatever you order ask of me.” And yes Ombra would be “I’m holding his leash I can release it.”
