I have a lot to say about Tuas perception of himself as a "good guy" throughout OFDO.
Its what leads him to let Dean live with him and remain friends with him , even though hes obviously resentful of the status quo of their friendship. To me Tua is someone with a Martyr complex who thinks being a doormat is equivalent to being a good person ....but is always one remove away from burning things to the ground as long as he gets to frame himself as the "wronged" party
The speed with which Tua turned on Dean and threw him out on the road ? Even when he knew he didnt have anywhere to go ? And immediately reverting to making a million jabs about his "hosting" and getting a "sugar daddy" while he was throwing him out ?...these are the reactions of a man who has always had these thoughts in his back pocket. These are the reactions of someone who has ALWAYS felt this way towards Dean. Maybe its not the entirety of his perception of him, but they are a load bearing part of it.
Like Raffy, Tua does have some moral superiority about how he can't be "bought". He does look down at Dean for being a host. He does think less of him for it. Again that might not be the entirety of his perception of Dean ...but now we know that it definitely is a part of it.
But because he's made this narrative of being the "good" guy and the "nice supportive friend" we never saw any of this [ other than some snide asides] till now. But now that he doesnt have to be nice to Dean anymore; now that he has a legitimate reason to lash out ...we hear all the thoughts he actually has of Dean come to the forefront.
We hear the disgust and the loathing and the belittlement because Dean was a host. We hear how little he thinks of Deans morality when he starts screaming at Dean before he gets made at Arnold for their "supposed" cheating. We hear him commisserate with Jack because Tua relishes in being the wronged party. In being the victim.
[ ofc much can be said of Tuas insecurities and how hair trigger they are. About how they rule so much of his psyche. But thats for another post]
Its funny to see how despite being his best friend , Tua has always loathed Dean *just* a little bit .... and its only that now we get to see the full expanse of it 😲😲
