 ever since jess black exacted her own brand of penance on the apostle , he’s never been the same . at first he’d been confused about the need for violence but the more time he spent with her the more obvious it became why she was so angry . all he had to determine at the time is if any of it was TRUE . 

she spilled her guts once she realized paul was completely ignorant to the happenings of hope county , that was after she’d already buried her arrows deep in his knee and shoulder . paul doesn’t remember much from his time down in that bunker other than the talks but the injuries he suffered make every day life hard to get through . 

the cane he uses digs into the earth as they walk , its needed for him to keep his balance with the destruction that she’d subjected his knee to . paul is probably lucky he can walk at all , but then again it might just be a MIRACLE . though , he does gets tired far more easily than he used to and he struggled with the terrain of hope county , but it won’t stop him from doing what he loves . months were spent in physical therapy thanks to her and she won’t let her take exploring his region from him . 

the words catch him off guard and suddenly he notices his pace has slowed and his breathing has gotten a bit more labored . what he doesn’t want to happen is to make old injuries flare up to do more harm than good due to his own stubbornness . ❝  probably a good idea to take a breather . don’t want to overdue it . ❞

phlegm pools inside your esophagus   ;   you haven’t swallowed in what seems like minutes,   all attention focused on the wooden table in front of you.    [more like whatever attention you could  spare.]    a map of hope county is sprawled across it,   digits pointing back   &   forth at  important  sights,   whisperers bouncing off the walls of the spread eagle.   [you’d never been in here prior to  everything.    you’d thought your first time would be for your twenty-first birthday   ;   not a  war  counsel  meeting.]    the topic burgeons an eeyorish atmosphere,   veiling itself across everything   &   everyone.    fissuring your lips does no good   ;   the words you  mean  to speak cannot find their pathing out.    instead,   they linger on the tip of your tongue,   holding onto their everlasting roots   &   begin to crumble into the stygian abyss you have created with your void.    you can feel your  repulsed  bones  crackling,   decaying with every moment gone by   ;   even second wasted is a moment  she  is in danger.    the one person you’d sworn to protect within your heart,   only to be yanked from the tips of your fingers,   the epidermis torn asunder.    your pique has been readable throughout the entirety of the meeting,   only now,   you can’t help but slam your hands down on the table,   halting the conversation to a stop,   all eyes landing upon you.    

❝    none of you  fucking  get it.    the plan won’t work   ;   the seed family isn’t dumb.    they’ve gotten this fucking far because  you  all  let it!    if you go through with that plan,   more people are going to die.    our  neighbors  will die.    ❞    maggots   &   rot fill your mouth,   spilling out onto the table as you flicker your gaze between every individual,   eventually landing upon the  deputy.    [another  out  of  town  fucker who thought they knew  everything  about hope county.    now look!    look what you’ve done,   dep!    are  you  happy  now?    our county is burning in a volcano   &   you can’t extinguish it.   good  fucking  job.]

mind detached from your body,   your entire rumination is placed upon her.    you can feel your blood boiling,   your veins offering the sense of  confidence  you desperately need.    wrath tucking itself within your heart,   the words you’ve awaited for  finally  spill like blood oozing from an open-wound.    ❝    i just want to get in   &   out.    i want to grab dina   &   get out.    the rest of this shit can wait for another day   ;   she can’t.    if you won’t let me go alone,   then one of you come with me.    ❞    all eyes are on you,   deputy.    choose your poison.

     ❛  so  you’re  the  one  puttin’  the  seeds  in  a  frenzy,  ❜  she always knew that they’d been off, but never to go nuclear like this. the reaping. the apocalypse prophesied by, under normal circumstances, a seemingly decent --- albeit extreme, preacher. it hurt sofia on some level to know that her grandmother trusted the seeds with her place more than her family. it hurt, but it wasn’t surprising. still, despite the chaos that looms in the air --- sofia’s doing her best to keep herself calm by cooking. the food truck provides.  ❛  can  i  get  y’somethin’?  a  bottle  of  wat’a?   er  ---  water.  ❜  pronouncing the ‘r’ is still a challenge.  /  ♡  ---  @deaputy​.
