As the saying goes, 'never meet your heroes.' Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately but definitely sadly, that's just what's happened between you and me and between you and a lot of other young women in America tonight. It's ironic (or maybe just unhappy coincidence) that just last night I was telling my sister how it worried me, as a woman and a Sanders supporter, to be associated with the group of young misogynistic men making sexist comments about Hillary and her supporters. But just now, I'm more worried about and outraged for the future of our country. For the systemic oppression and injustices perpetrated against minority groups. For the disappearing abortion access you fought for. Worried. For our health care, education, unemployment, impending economic crises, About xenophobia, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, war mongering, torture, and human rights violations, Terrified. For income inequality, mental health, gun control, police overreach, school to prison pipelines, prison industrial complex, the police have fucking tanks... Who the fuck has time to chase boys? Because I don't want to open up my newsfeed to another Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Martin Shkreli, Goldman Sachs, old white man more worried about other old white men than child abuse, lead in the water, he said 'it was easy to kill her,' kind of day. And while I'm trying to find ways to help people with less of a voice than mine shout above the rabble, you are using yours to silence and discredit all of us I am younger than you, yes, but not blind or silly or lazy or boy crazy Before you speak your one-sided truth to my intersectional feminism With the audacity to consider more than my gender, Please remember: There's a gap between my legs but not between my ears.
