Wrath and Rage ( REVISITED )
♔—- Regardless of what Nephthys said, he had to try. If Set didn’t snap out of whatever hold she’d placed on him, then he and his child were in danger. The last thing he wanted to do was bring physical harm upon the one person that he actually managed to fall in love with but if it came down to it, Loki would stop Set.
He hoped it wouldn’t come to that. He hoped that his words would twist through Set’s mind and push their way between him and his deranged wife’s magic.
But nothing seemed to work. Nephthys kept insisting that Set couldn’t hear him, that nothing he could do would actually get through to the Red God. At first, Loki hadn’t believed it but as Set leaped across the room in what Loki could only describe as a short-ranged form of teleportation and grabbed hold of both of his wrists, his hopes shattered. Maybe he really would have to fight Set. Maybe he would have to cause enough harm and damage to his beloved that it would force him to stop his onslaught.
A cry of pain left his lips as Set twisted both of his arms and shoved him up against the nearest wall. His wrists ached and while he didn’t believe they were broken, it momentarily felt like Set twisted hard enough to dislocate the joints. The shock was enough for Set to catch him off guard and pin his aching wrists above his head.
Before the blade punctured his side–which, in reality, wouldn’t do much damage to him. Set might have been able to harm the baby with that knife but if he hoped to kill Loki with it, it would be a long and painstaking process, one that would only work if Set managed to keep Loki from putting any amount of distance between them–Nephthys shouted and hissed in an ancient Egyptian language that Loki could only understand thanks to his All-tongue. He’d spent some time with Thoth, learning the ancient language, but he hadn’t come to master it yet without use of the All-tongue.
“Yes,” he hissed. “You miserable old bitch. That’s what I said. All this time Set thought he couldn’t have children, but in reality, you just didn’t give him one.” While the death goddess was distracted with reformulating a plan, Loki brought his knee up between Set’s legs with enough force that it sent the god stumbling backward. Even deities had a difficult time ignoring the outrageous amount of pain that radiated from taking a direct hit to the groin and Loki’s bone and skin density certainly didn’t make it any easier on his lover.
“Sorry, Set,” Loki hissed, prying the dagger away from him while he was hunched over in pain. “You have to fight her. Right now. She can’t control you anymore and she can’t come between us unless you let her. Please, Set, fight her.”
The mind-controlled red god just stared at the other and waited but as he continued to wait for his new orders from the death goddess, he couldn’t help but look down and make small uncontrollable twitches. As if he was fighting deep down and gaining back control.
Set started to move, twitch and what it seemed like stretch in some sense but...all looked painful and uncomfortable. As he was told, set was fighting--he barely heard Loki under the spell but that seemed to be enough to continue to fight. Meanwhile Nephthys continued to process the news over and over in her deranged mind.
❝ ---Osiris will be so upset with me...SO upset....I-I can’t....I c-can’t.. ❞
The goddess turned her sight back at Loki then at his stomach. If she couldn’t kill the baby...because of Osiris’s rage not to mention Set’s once he was free from her--which was wearing off more and more, WELL than she would just STEAL the baby. Then she could say she had Set’s child right? RIGHT?! Nephthys turned back at Set--
❝ My love, gut this harlet open and retrieve the baby for me, would you? But do be careful with MY baby. ❞
