Debt Rag – Lost to the Fantasy LP (PPM)
Bay Area evacuees Lillian Maring (Grass Widow), Marissa Magic (gSp, Stillsuit) and Max Nordile (Preening, many others) run up to Olympia and start Wet Drag over, freely. Noh Mercy style protest-in-a-suitcase band, like they grabbed everything of value and ran out of a burning practice space (really hope this didn't happen). Kind of a brilliant devolve-scape of lessened responsibility towards capital, like you wake up one morning and decide you're done putting on airs in thrall to the hustle of a city dominated by financial heaviness and then you split. Simple to the point of madness, minimal keyboard/trumpet/bass/percussion stomps, harmonious in the most basic ways and demonstrative in the biggest. Short, almost feels like it should be a mini-CD glued to a pamphlet instead of a record, but it's a record. Engine turns over fine, leaves you wanting a little more.
