I know this sounds really weird for someone born in the US, but I don’t actually celebrate 4th of July in my neck of the woods (aka the Philippines): back in the pre-Diosdado Macapagal days, we had at one point observed our Independence Day in July 4 but it’s only because of the American involvement to make our government to become independent, but Pres. Macapagal decided to reverse it to June 12 which is the date when we gained independence from Spain (except that they and the US cheated on our backs via the Treaty of Paris, thus launching the Philippine American War and the American Occupation of my country). Today, we only celebrate that day as US-PH Friendship Day and that’s it.
I find myself confused over America’s full-blow fascination of the day when I often see celebrations on PH Independence Day at home are more subdued: I was not even 5 when the PH Independence Centennial Celebration happened and I have barely any memories from it at all besides 2 music CDs in my music CD collection.
So when Philip did learned that I am conflicted over it last year, and yes, he is a child of a Founding Father (mind you), he did his best to get my point of view and understand why I am not as invested in the 4th of July celebrations like most people. Since then, he understands me well and wants to make it less burdensome for me while everyone celebrates the day. Also, he does his best not to unknowingly hurt Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s feelings on this day too. True story.
Luckily, while we are all stuck at home, we are having a low key party over grilled steak sandwiches, mayoless salads (am I the only one who thinks mayo is disgusting?), sweet potato (Kamote) fries, fresh spring rolls, baked cookies, and iced tea. Nothing too crazy and we’re also repurposing our old 4th of July decor for the day. It will also be our daughter Edelgard’s first 4th of July, so she will need help in surviving it A LOT.
Day after the Con - What are you and your F/Os like when you’re tired? Are you cuddly or do you tend to sleep on your own side of the bed with no touching?
Aw yeah, Philip gush time!
Me and Philip will be poofed and can be sluggish at times. We would love to sleep on our own sides of the bed (like my RL parents do) as not to disturb each other, except that we are currently sleeping in different bedrooms in our house at the moment. Whoops!
Mari, what luck! I managed to score a couple of tickets to a play tonight, and I can' think of anyone else I'd like to take with me. If I throw in dinner on me and a walk around town afterwards, will you say yes? I can't help but love the way you look under the moonlight- you'll let me know, right? - Phillip Hamilton
Oh yes, yes of course, my love. I would readily accept this date. That has to be a lovely treat for sure. Will be ready at anytime, love. See you real soon.
@selfship-soup
Hi! I hope this doesn't come across as weird or creepy (I've only been following for a few days) But I really like the ship between you and Philip, so I drew you two! (I found some of the picrews you had made and I figured they were you/your s/I)
I'm fairly new to Hamilton (a fan since around May of this year) and I also self ship with it! (Although not romantically. More familial/platonic). Anyway, I hope it was cool for me to stop by and give this to you ^~^ (ps Philip loves you very much!)
(Oh my goodness! This is really lovely, thank you so much! self-ship-stars)
