Apparently if you try to wander into the Emperor's old hideout (or, probably, other places in the sewers) without taking a long rest after Gortash tells you about the doppelganger in your camp, Disguised!Orin SHOWS UP covered in blood in front of you and SCREAMS at you.

"Tsk'va! It's not safe here! It's too late for me, but not for you! Run, as fast as your legs can carry you!"

"Lae'zel, you're hurt. What happened?"

"Orin happened! She seized me from our camp, bore me here to Bhaal's enclave! She - she slit my belly and filled her cup with my blood. A toast, she said, to her false god. She told me when her cup ran dry, she'd come for the rest of me. I'm done for. I will hold her off as long as I'm able! Run, while you still can! Don't even think about fighting her. This foe is too powerful."

Delmak the Vengeance Paladin is, of course, having none of this. "I will not run. I have no fear of Orin."

"You'd underestimate Orin the Red? The last mistake you'll ever make.

God, she's so fkn creepy. :P

It goes into the same conversation you get in camp after this, but eeeeek.

Mildly interesting to me how self-aggrandizing she is in this little speech. "This foe is FAR too powerful." Then again if you believe her and try to flee she just mocks you anyway. XD

Poked back into my tactician run after forever and immediately blindsided by Jaheira feels (as usual):

"What do you think of [Gortash's] warning - of the doppelganger in our camp?"

"It would be irritatingly true to form, would it not? A Harper learns to doubt. To peer through every smile, question every look. Eventually you find whatever it is you fear, whether it is there or not. When we cannot know, we can only trust."

Catch me having feelings about how this woman has been conditioned by a life of service and loss to be so so careful with her emotions, but there is still so much feeling under the surface, and still a willingness to care and trust, given the right circumstances. c:

She also made fun of Delmak for not knowing who Nine-Fingers is. XD "Oh, to be so innocent!"

This is feelsy to me in particular based on the plan I have for Fault Lines. Jaheira has kept track of Nine-Fingers, most certainly.

Ended up switching to my Tactician run after Hector's camp drama, because Overwatch is distracting and also I'm having drinks which will become increasingly unconducive to good writing in the liveblog.

I want to give a huge shoutout to https://deltiasgaming.com/best-baldurs-gate-3-builds-all-classes-and-companions/ which has turned out to be a huge help as far as looking at more practical build and gameplay guides to actually play the game at a higher level for the high difficulty. Super recommend it if you want to try out new builds or get some guidance. :D

In other news, Delmak has a new outfit now and has flirted with Shadowheart a bit.

Realistically, despite the Tactician difficulty, I'm more interested in the romance than the combat challenge, but it gives me more incentive to get through the fights. :P
