I know Kris is yellow as an 'ambiguity' thing, but thinking about angsty reasons for it instead is still fun.

Imagine a new human moves to town, takes one look at this yellow child, and immediately blurts out "jaundice??"

(maybe housing a soul that isn't their own means their body is slowly rejecting it, like a failed transplant, so stuff's slowly shutting down, i.e. stuff like jaundice.)
