In Memoriam: Rick DeMarinis
(May 3, 1934 – June 12, 2019)
We mourn the death of Rick DeMarinis, a friend and long-time contributor to the Antioch Review.
DeMarinis’ first piece, “The Flowers of Boredom” appeared in our “My Father’s Shoes” (Winter 1988; cover pictured) magazine. Thereafter, DeMarinis’ fiction often appeared in our pages: “Borrowed Hearts” (Fall 1998), “Dead Men” (Spring 2003), “Bête Noire” (Summer 2004), “A Balancing Act” (Fall 2009), “Boy with Cane Pole” (Summer 2010), “Guido’s Tale: The Job” (Spring 2012), “The Harpoonist at Rest” (Winter 2013), “Afternoon in Byzantium” (Summer 2014), “Still Life” (Summer 2015), “Sparrow’s Tale” (Winter 2016), and “Planning Ahead” (Spring 2017), a poignant piece about one’s demise.
DeMarinis was an award-winning author and ardent supporter of the Antioch Review.
