demisurge asked : spare a smooch .
( kiss kiss ! 3/5 : not accepting ! / @demisurge )
when someone does one thing , over and over again , purposefully — with a goal in mind , they call that repetition . however , when that one thing becomes routine , so natural that it seems like it encircles every fingertip with ease , it becomes a habit . that was what had become of his facades , now less of a mask but more of an armour , cynicism as a second skin to conceal the whispers of his demons . this was no difference , he has tried to convince himself , it was unlike him to get lost in such a game .
checkmate . ❝ that’s disappointing . i suppose i’m no match , that’s another win for you . ❞ he laughs like the way relief caresses solace on the cheek , like there’s nothing else that plagues his mind , like this is all that he seeks from his time with kureto . they stand up in synch , like well - rehearsed formalities , exhausting , and on some days , leaves a distasteful qualm for his mind . kureto is proper down to the very seams of his appearance , down to every button at his cuffs that seemed to be repelling chrollo’s chaos . he reads the disappointment between his brows , attributes it to his facile victory , to which chrollo offers a chaste smile . this habit , for the first time , begins to drain him .
there’s minimal words exchanged , but chrollo recognises the part of kureto’s lips . he had something to say . to reprimand ? disapprove of ? a request ? something chrollo would otherwise be interested in , if not for the stray crinkle in the other’s collar . it delights him , almost , that the imperfection crumbles the barrier between their worlds and feels like they’re no longer playing a tedious game of rivalry through the distance of multiple dimensions . when he reaches out , he grazes the fabric and straightens out the stiff material between deft fingers . ❝ don’t think too much about this , kureto , ❞
his voice barely dies before their lips collide , his fingers now buried between the other’s collar , grasping mayhem in his hands just to pull him one step closer to the havoc he wishes to show him . suddenly , like wilting breeze , his smile fades , even old habits wane in the presence of unwarned impulses . he doesn’t expect the kiss to last , but it does . there’s no hands digging into his collars in irritation and no force against his body telling him to cut out this ridiculous joke . his smile finds its way back between his lips , now pressed with quiet tenderness as he bundles his composure and distance back into his hands . this time , he doesn’t bother feigning the pending apologetic chuckle , but dusts lightly over the now rumpled collar . with this , chrollo admits his defeat . ever after their war is over , he’ll remain as the split second of disorder in kureto’s world .
