OKAY I FINALLY HAVE AN OUTLINE FOR MY DEMON/PREACHER AU. I really only have an EXTREMELY rough outline for the trilogy and you can definitely tell I crafted it around the wrightworth but here we go
⚠ themes of religious abuse
- The Feys are witches who are well versed in demonology and live in the mountains above the main town the story is set in, everyone just kind of minds their own business because you don't wanna mess with witches
- The von Karmas are highly religious and essentially have a stranglehold on the town and have taught them all to fear the supernatural
- Larry accidentally summons Phoenix, a demon, as a kid and Miles protects Phoenix from persecution long enough to ask Gregory for help, who seeks out Misty to send Phoenix back home
- Manfred murders Gregory for consorting with demons and witches and undermining his teachings, and makes it out to look as though a demon had done it, which makes Miles think it was his fault for bringing a demon into their home
- Miles is adopted by Manfred and raised to help spread his teachings and keep the town under his control
- Manfred is slowly turning public opinion against witches in the hopes of chasing them off, and Miles and Franziska are taught to hate witches and demons
- At some point Phoenix is summoned by Dahlia as a means of protection, and he becomes infatuated with her
- Mia frees Phoenix from Dahlia and seals her powers, but Phoenix doesn't want to go back to Hell because he's curious about what he's missed and the mortal realm is a LOT nicer than what he's used to
- Phoenix gets taught how to take on a human guise and slips away from Mia while on a trip to the village at the base of the mountain to find Miles
- He winds up attending one of the sermons and sees just how bad Miles has gotten, and resolves to break von Karma's control over him and the rest of the village
- Mia doesn't like going back to the mountains but often visits Maya and Pearl there, and when she brings Phoenix along Phoenix immediately gets attached to them
- Maya wants to go down and see the village but it's not safe since she's a witch and people are a lot less cool with witches than they used to be
- Maya convinces Phoenix to sneak to the village with her since he's been there before and can cover for her, but Miles catches her doing magic
- It almost goes VERY badly but Phoenix reveals himself to Miles and demands he let Maya go
- Miles does so and instantly starts struggling with his morality and prejudices and has to hide what happened from von Karma
- Phoenix starts paying more visits to Miles and getting him to come out of his shell and take risks and appreciate the supernatural instead of condemning it, along with just enjoying the simple pleasures of life he's always denied himself
- von Karma eventually catches on and puts Miles on public trial for consorting with demons and witches, accusing him of endangering the town and turning against God
- Phoenix and Maya defend him as well as they can without revealing themselves, but when Manfred attempts to claim Miles summoned the demon that killed his father, Phoenix reveals himself to call bullshit. No demons were ever summoned in that home, and Miles was framed.
- Phoenix outs Manfred as Gregory's true killer, and the town is outraged. Karmic justice is soon brought about, leaving Miles completely lost as to what he should do with his life and looking to Phoenix for answers
- Miles winds up taking a sabbatical to figure out on his own what his faith means to him, and Phoenix is distraught by being abandoned
- Phoenix holes up with the Feys because he is NOT safe with Franziska desperately attempting to reassert control over the village
- Maya gets in trouble again though, due to a clash between Morgan, current head of the Feys, and Franziska, and Phoenix has to go rescue Maya, sort out the mess with Morgan, and give Franziska a good talking to about her own prejudices
- I really think Phoenix and Franziska should properly talk about their trauma from Miles apparently dying, and von Karma's effects on his children
- Franziska is called away to deal with a demon summoning, and Phoenix and Maya go with her, only for Maya and Franziska to both get incapacitated. Some demons are in fact wicked, and the demon summoned, de Killer, is a nasty one with a wretched reputation
- Edgeworth shows back up again and Phoenix is fucking pissed but needs help finding who summoned de Killer, while Maya and Franziska have to work together to overpower the demon and escape his clutches
- Phoenix and Miles manage to find and subdue Engarde, and while Maya and Franziska couldn't stop de Killer from escaping back to Hell, they're safe and sound
- Miles has a lengthy discussion with the others about why he left, and specifically talks with Franziska about redefining their faith and what it means to aid others
- Bounty hunter Godot shows up. No one is happy about this. He was previously attacked by Dahlia and separated from Mia, and mistakenly believes Phoenix is still Dahlia's puppet
- Miles and Maya are pretty quick to jump to Phoenix's defense, though Franziska still has her misgivings about him
- Godot starts trying to seek out Dahlia, who's been imprisoned in the mountains, and when he kills her, her powers are unsealed and she becomes a terrifyingly powerful poltergeist
- She does still have a lingering connection to Phoenix that makes him physically ill and threatens to tear him apart if he doesn't listen to her, and the best way to protect him is for him not to have a physical form - as in, possessing someone
- Miles volunteers himself as a temporary vessel for Phoenix, and the two work together with Maya, Franziska, and Godot to send Dahlia to Hell where she belongs
Mia is alive, she's just off doing her own thing. She comes back and it's like. Pizza fire gif. Her ex boyfriend who she thought died is holding the body of Dahlia, that stupid preacher she butted heads with once is currently being possessed by Phoenix, her sister is making out with the other preacher, everything is on fire,
Thank you for drawing more of the Demonix!AU. Once another AU where I relate to Edgeworth more than I care to admit. I love all of your art, but even with only two posts this one holds a special place in my heart.
