Australian Green Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus)
hey, so after pretty much my entire life of wanting to, I'm finally filling out and submitting for my basic wildlife license.
and I now have to make a very big decision.
I'll very likely only be able to have one snake.
Due to financial, and space constraints.
So I have to really decide on the type of snake I want.
Luckily for me Australia made that very easy by not letting us import animals, ever.
Unluckily it means there are lots of snakes I love I'll never get the chance to keep.
Now, there are still a few options for a good "beginner" snake.
I'd be very happy with a carpet python, however they get to be potentially 8 feet long which is just too much for the amount of space I have.
The other type of snake I'd love to keep is the common tree snake. I really love colubrids, and the tree snake is a lot more realistic of a choice, given the amount of room I have.
Ideally I'd LOVE a golden phase, but I don't want to be horribly picky.
So I just wanted to ask if anyone here has kept common tree snakes before, and what they were like as pets.
Todays Snake Is:
The Common Tree Snake or Australian Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus) is a mildly venomous species found in northern and eastern Australia and Papua New Guinea. Their coloration varies by location, being green, black, golden brown, or even blue. When threatened, they will puff up to appear larger and more threatening like the individual shown above.
