Dispel Depression Bath
A magical bath for easing symptoms of depression, grounding the spirit, and imbuing the heart with warmth and hope. ***When choosing crystals for this spell, double-check that they are safe to place in water. Crystals like selenite are water-soluble and can sustain damage, and others such as malachite, fluorite, and lapis lazuli release toxins in water!***
Items needed:
1 yellow or white candle in stable container
Citrine, amethyst, or other stones that promote positivity and happiness
Carnelian, hematite, or other grounding stones
Herbs or oils of: cinnamon, bergamot, and sweet orange OR chamomile, jasmine, and rosemary (combinations based on compatible scents)
Optional: Clear quartz to amplify power, bay leaves for luck and success in the spell
How to perform:
(Optional: Cast circle around yourself and tub before beginning.)
Place candle away from anything flammable on the side of the tub. Draw your bath - the temperature of the water should be tolerably hot, and add enough to submerge in comfortably. Kneel over the tub and visualize/think about your intention – can be as simple as feeling happier, lighter, more grounded, etc. Light the candle, then drop desired amount of herbs in the water (if using oils, 2-3 drops of each, no more than 10 total). Holding your crystals, stir the bath water clockwise with your hand and visualize your intention activating, spiraling out of the crystals and spreading to imbue the water with a golden glow. Leave the crystals in the water or on the side of the tub. This bath is meant to make you happier, so you can either take this time to meditate, space out, or do your normal bath activities like reading a book or watching a show!
Make sure to get out of the tub while it’s still a little warm (you can keep adding hot water if you want to!). When draining the tub and blowing out the candle, thank and release the energies in the spell ingredients. Open but do not break the circle if you cast one.
Tips for spell:
Have all ingredients within easy reach of the tub before you begin!
It’s nice to shower beforehand to get cleansed before the bath, but depression can make that difficult. No worries if you can’t!
Getting undressed before starting the spell can prevent a break in your concentration and intention between casting the spell and stepping in the water.
Place a cup of water and a light, nourishing snack within reach while taking your bath.
Depression symptoms can make it difficult to concentrate, set/hold your intentions, or cast a circle. If you’re struggling, that’s okay! You are still a powerful witch – and the good news is that you are not alone when you cast. Ask your ancestors (literally, ask them out loud or in your head) to hold your intention/the circle for you as you take this bath. You can also ask an animal that you feel connected to spiritually (especially one that you feel protected by) as well as a deity that you are devoted to. It is a good practice to thank them after the spell ends, and to regularly honor the beings that you ask for help by leaving offerings on your altar.
