90-97 for Nic and Wide Man 👀

90) What is a joke that they would find funny?Nic: Basically anything. Bad jokes, dad jokes, dry humor, situational humor, she’ll laugh at anything. Grant: his life . Also probably situational humor. Like someone notices just how absurd something that’s happening is and kind of deadpan a comment about it and he’ll laugh about it. 91) Do they have a place that can go and turn off their brain?Nic: The back patio spot in Seed Ranch that overlooks the fence. It’s a nice spot that she can just watch the clouds float by and the trees sway in the wind and think about absolutely nothing. Grant:  That one Overlook next to Raptor Peak. Kind of same logic. It’s secluded, and all he has to do is climb up on the roof, lay down and he’s dead to the world, and the rest of the world is dead to him, just what he wanted. 92) What was their childhood like?Nic: Awful, considering she was the “a baby will fix our marriage” baby and her father was physically and emotionally abusive to her and her mother. Grant: Fairly pleasant. He was loved, and he came from a rich family so he was taken care of, but he hated all the egotistical stuff that came with it, so he moved out and joined the Army as soon as he turned 18. 93) What are they like as an adult?Nic: Trying her best, trying to establish herself financially went about as well as the Deputy landing Carmina for the first time goes. It’s a bit bumpy of a path, but she manages. She’s patient, kind and strives to see the best in people. Grant: Quiet, disciplined and reserved but in a healthy way before the mission where he loses his squad, and it turns into him being nearly entirely withdrawn from people, quiet, and near emotionless. He’s barely out of the hole he dug himself when he comes to Hope County. 94) Do they take criticism well?Nic: She takes it decently. Well, constructive criticism, anyway. Come at her with something baseless or just plain mean and she’ll come back at you with something twice as scathing. Grant: He’s his own worst critic with all the self-hate that he’s got manifesting, so he’s immune to criticism, constructive or otherwise. 95) Have they ever jumped out of a plane?Nic: For airdrops for travelling in the county, but thats it.Grant: Did it once in combat. Made sure he was in troops travelling on the ground so it never happened again. 96) Who do they like to make jokes with?Nic: Sharky and her are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to any sort of jokes. She and Earl can read a situation and find the humor in it together, and if one person says whatever they’re thinking about it out loud, the other one will join in and they’ll feed off each other with it. Grant: Does’t really make jokes on his own, but will occasionally piggyback off of Sharky’s humor, and once he’s close enough to him, John’s as well. 97) Have you ever drawn them before? If you are comfortable with it, would you post a picture? Nic: I have a bunch of Nic, from @johndonovans @nickiburkes and my Herald AU.  Here’s her solo pic, and then her with Deputy John, and then some “canon” art with a scene from New Divide with Nic in Sharky’s sweatshirt, and then I’m too ashamed of the rest/older ones to link them. And then there’s @myworldisbiworld‘s take and Elusetta’s take on her.    Grant: I’ve got an attempt at Grant art but I can’t find it, but @mr-arainai drew him a while ago here and I legitimately cried with joy. Don’t have a link but I have the photo. There’s a joke in the fact that he’s smiling/he’s treated kinder in art than I treat him at any time in his fic.

💕 Describe an ideal date for them!

Hmmmm. In Hope County, it’d probably be a hike in the whitetail forest, then either a picnic (faith’s opinion) or takeout (alice’s opinion) alternatively, a night alone in alice’s room lol

outside of Hope County? Alice really wants to take Faith to Disneyland lol - including a dinner at the Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle!

💖 What are some little subtle ways they show that they love each other?

A silly one: Alice will actually try and cook for Faith, even if it turns into a disaster (and then she’ll go and get takeout from the Spread Eagle and clean up her mess lol). Faith will dress up the cats and send Alice pictures (or keep a reserve of pictures for when Alice is sad) lol

They both will buy each other things that remind them of the other and tag along and chill with the other while doing something they enjoy (Faith will go fishing with Alice, even if she’s not really a fan of the actual fishing part, and Alice will sit with Faith as she gardens, either just sitting and chatting or doing what Faith tells her to lol)

💗 Describe your OC’s partner(s) from their point of view! What do they really think about them?

Faith, on Alice: Honestly? Alice is nothing like she expected. Appearance-wise, the tiny, pink-haired, “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color”, woman is the polar opposite of her, and definitely has a vocabulary that her brothers won’t approve of. At the start, the new dispatcher was a curious addition to the county, and she definitely didn’t expect to catch feelings. The helicopter crash.... complicated things, but it didn’t change how she felt, and the years after the bombs before Alice came out of her bunker only solidified how much she loves Alice.

Alice, on Faith: holy shit she’s beautiful. Ethereal, fairy-princess beautiful, yet she has an edge that she didn’t expect. Even after the bombs, people tell her she shouldn’t trust Faith with everything, but Alice would (does) trust her with her life, and she knows Faith feels the same.
