These days, Charlie spent most of her nights at the hotel. But the palace was still her original home. She still had her bedroom there and it was decorated just the way she had left it. Her dad always made sure she knew she was welcome there.
Today, she had spent a busy day with her dad learning more royal responsibilities. It had been rather exhausting and so she decided to just go ahead and stay the night there.
Which was all well and fine until she woke up in the middle of the night thirsty.
She made the familiar trek to the nearest kitchen. There was only a skeleton crew of staff at this late hour and no one in the kitchen itself. After opening a few cabinets, she found a glass and poured water into it.
While taking a big swig of it, she thought she heard a sound coming from the entrance but saw no one. The room was dimly lit and the silence was deafening. Even if this was her home it was a little creepy.
"H-Hello....?" Charlie called out, hoping someone would answer. "Is anybody there?"
