valentine’s day ball - OPEN STARTER / BEN 

        it’s wonderful to see hard work pay off, and the ballroom certainly looks the part. the ice sculptures that had caused such a stir behind the scenes sitting proudly in their spots, the bunting strung across the room, tinging the light pink. and then the gardens, the trellis they’d built overlooking the fountain was covered in roses, bunting and fairy lights, and he stopped to appreciate the view. he sat himself on a stone bench, looking out over the gardens, listening to the music and chatter of the party behind him. happiness, he decided, was infectious. it warmed the very air, even on a cool february evening. still warm from dancing, he shrugs out of his suit jacket, to let the breeze cool his skin for a moment, eyes closed, head tilted back. the scent of roses hanging in the air.

          gonzo hadn’t really known what to expect with an auradon valentines ball, and while there were things that had bothered him ( who put gold on food? ), being able to see the crew dressed up and having fun, dancing, talking or just overall being together in one place had set any nerves or anxieties he had about his arrival at ease. between the champagne and the music, gonzo felt swept up in the moment until he was reminded of the weight of the pendant resting inside of his shirt. after reading the harry might be in the hedge maze, gonzo set out, muting his phone as he went to ignore the familiar teases.

he wandered through the hedge maze absently, every corner making him uneasy for a time until he dropped all pretenses and called out.    “    harry !  are  you  in  here ?    ”

          valentine’s day ball  -  open starter !

          it is not uncommonly known that nina quite honestly despises parties and social gatherings ;   crowds make her uncomfortable ,   especially crowds of people that she either doesn’t know ,   doesn’t like ,   or doesn’t bother associating with .   she most certainly didn’t want to be present for the valentine’s day ball ,   but of course ,   the second the word got out that she had been planning on skipping ,   she was forced to yank a dress out of her closet and make herself somewhat presentable .   now she has found herself sitting in the corner ,   frowning at the cup of very non-alcoholic fruit punch as if it did something to offend her .     god ,   being sober is the worst .

          It had taken Noelani some time to find a hint of where Charlie had disappeared but eventually she had managed it. Finding a member of the staff that had happened upon Charlie dressed in his pink suit being led away by a girl, and from there she had followed the tracks in the damp grass through the gardens and into the surrounding woodlands. Concern quickly compelled Noelani to remove her heels, hitching the long flowing ruffles of her dress up to her hips and fastening them with a hairtie as she trecked through the woods barefoot.

It was there, in the forest that she spotted him. His familiar blonde hair and his fine suit, “Charlie!” she called out loudly, relief simmering through her veins as she jogged forward to close the distance between them. She reached out for his hand, expression woven with both worry and relief. “What are you doing out here? It’s dangerous.”

Evie suggested Harry wear a red silk button down shirt and slacks, so Harry went with it. As the ball neared he built on the suggestion with a black vest and a black and red coat, dressing the look down a bit with a boot and accessorized with his chunky silver rings, some layered necklaces including his obsidian knife head and a simple beaded bracelet. He intends to ditch the coat at the door to the ball so that he can move more freely and has his silver hook hanging from one of his belts at his hip.
