I figure if I'm not a fur trader, a pine tree cutter, or a dry-land farmer I've got no business living where the creeks give to rise and the rivers freeze at summer's end. Even now there are towns at the confluence of those mighty rivers in the land of beaver pelts and pine martins...why? Well, here in the desert studio this is the time of year when we start to pine for cooler climes. Any thoughts of a real move, however, are tempered by the above. We're just humble oil painters needing to live in the land of endless summer and constant skyspiration.
