i can’t stop thinking about the breakroom scene in designated target. the way ziva looked at tony when he told her the story about his great-grandfather, and his expression after she asked him about soulmates and he realized what she meant. i just loved it so much.

Tony and Ziva have no personal space and she’s all up in his face inside the car, calling him out on being a dick, grabbing his shoulder and hand on his thigh and it takes them like two minutes to realize it BECAUSE THEY ARE SO USED TO IT

And the fact that the direction POINTS IT OUT is so telling. They could have brushed it off as another Tiva/acting choice to have them be all over each other as usual. But they stop, and Tony brings attention to the fact that she’s got her hands on him, and she realizes it, but does nothing about it either. They’re like, oh, are we really going there right now?

THEY ARE SO MARRIED.

And jumping ahead for a minute: when the victim’s supposed wife asks Ziva if she’s met her soulmate met, she touches Ziva’s arm -- not unlike how Ziva touched Tony’s arm in the previous scene, to which the show just drew our attention.

WHY DID THEY DO THIS TO US.

They really were going there, setting up the Ziva-Tony dynamic, or at least heavily implying her unrequited feelings for him while he was still nursing a broken heart over Jeanne... But then they dropped it.

Sigh.

He could’ve called himself her boyfriend or fiancé...but NO. He chose husband.

Oh, Ziva... little do you know that that will be you in like 11 years... Makes me think about her worrying that Tony has moved on and remembering this case, deciding to stay away. 😭

“Seven years is a long time”

The fact that this show almost repeated this same story, with Tony and Ziva, without meaning to, is insane.

Because they too were separated for almost seven years. (Although, thankfully, they saw each other at least once in the interim.)

And they too had a child involved.

But THANK FUCK the show didn’t go there with the “Tony really thought she was dead so he moved on with someone else and had a new family” route because that would have been the worst.

Season 17 may have put us Tiva fans through the ringer, but I will say, no matter how it happened, I almost forget now that Ziva and Tony almost didn’t make it, because I am so convinced they now have their happy ending.

Anyway this show is mean the end.
