so i noticed that you and me both haven't seen boyhood whiplash the theory of everything and big hero six, which is awful of me because my brother is a movie enthusiast and he would absolutely shame me. I wanted to ask, what were the historical inaccuracies you saw in the imitation game?

"Imitation game"'s wikipedia article on the "accuracy" section has about everything. I'm gonna list out the ones that stand out to me. tbh i didn't see any historical inaccuracies, i didn't know about them till i read the article on wikipedia

1. Turing is portrayed to be on the Autism spectrum in the film, in reality he does not possess characteristics such as "lack of sense of humour", "inability to collaborate with colleagues", as reflected in the film.  

2. he did not name the machine after "childhood best friend/crush. The decryption machine was not named "Christopher".

3. Turing had full support from his colleagues and the commander officer making the decryption machine. In fact he had very pleasant working relationships with them from the beginning. 

So obviously the movie changes many details of Turing's life as well as his personality to dramatize the story, like many other movies about historical figures. And that's fine, It did not erase the fact that he's the father of computer science and an important figure in the history of gay rights, whose contribution helps the allies to win the 2nd world war and allows the technologies today to happen. The movie itself...well...it was alright. 

Lmao i'm a goddamn film major and i haven't been watching NEARLY enough movies,  i should be ashamed of myself as well. tbh I'm lucky that I even went to see Birdman, it didn't seem to get much advertising, much like boyhood and whiplash, and-- it's not mentioned in that gif set--Grant Budapest Hotel. I was going to watch theory of everything in theatre, but damn, i still didn't get a chance to watch it anywhere lol. But about big hero 6, I'm actually so confused about the movie, is it an independent story? or is it a continuation of some other anime movie??
