Go
It doesn’t matter what time it is.
It doesn’t matter who you need to please.
It does not matter if you are tired, or bored, or putting off scrubbing those dishes.
If you really want it, get up and get going.
Grab your Journal. Grab your favorite Pen.
Turn off your phone and Leave it at home.
Just Go.
Find a spot. A good Spot. Or a Bad Spot.
It doesn’t matter if it is at home, or in the streets.
It does't matter if it is quiet or loud, or in a church or in a cafe, or at your parents house.
It doesn’t matter if someone is around or if you are alone.
You don’t have to be comfortable.
You don’t have to be uncomfortable.
Notice.
Feel the noise in the calm.
Find the quiet lurking in the noise.
Listen to those thoughts.
Observe those patterns.
Eavesdrop.
Watch her glance his way then touch her hair.
Hear him laugh. Listen to the bustle of those coming and going.
Listen to them complain.
Listent to them compliment.
Experience.
Monitor your body’s reaction to the stimuli around you.
Embrace the grass as it irritates your skin.
Burn your tongue on the Earl Grey Tea.
Smile at someone, and remember their reaction.
Remember the repulsion.
Remember the joy.
Remember the curiosity, and the anxiety, and the ignorance.
Question.
What kind is this?
What can happen next?
Why are they upset, and what was their day like?
Why did he buy those shoes, and what will he do with them later?
How did they end up together?
How did she get this job?
Does she enjoy it?
Now Write.
Write it in your journal or type it on a typewriter
Use all caps or cursive or hieroglyphics,
It doesn't matter how.
It doesn’t matter if it is embarrassing, or ugly, or beautiful.
It doesn’t matter if it is a fifth grade writing level, and it doesn’t matter if anyone ever reads it.
Exhaust every memory and thought, because you cannot afford to forget the experiences which will push you forward.
