@detectiveconnor drops this at your feet if you'd like it, bc i've been thinking about it lol
It would really suck if I lost my balance right now, Diego thought, balancing many storeys up the side of an apartment complex. His boots, thick, steel-toed, felt suddenly bulky and hazardous on the two-inch ledge, and the rappelling rope he'd slung over the balcony above questionable. It'd hold, definitely, but... Diego peered at the street below with a groan. It would suck if it didn't.
Not like he was scared or anything, though. He'd been doing this shit since he was a kid.
Diego was only sweating a little bit by the time he swung a leg over the target balcony. He stopped at the sliding glass door, first listening, then peering inside. All was dark and quiet in the apartment and, if he was lucky-- Diego smiled as the door came open with a quiet pop. Unlocked. Of course it was. Most people didn't bother locking them this high up. Why should they? Most catburglars didn't have the equipment or the balls to make that kind of climb.
Quiet as a mouse, Diego took his first tentative step inside. Fortunately for his guy Dez, he wasn't a catbuglar. Unfortunately, though, he was the vigilante who was going to bust his sorry drug dealing ass.
This mission was personal, so when Diego caught movement in the dark, he didn't hesitate to pounce. He grappled for a moment with the shadow before finding himself cleanly dislodged and almost flipped. The result was a clumsy half-tumble into the living room as Diego fought against his target's unexpected effort to knock him off his feet. O-kay, so Dez had a little bit of streetfighting skill. Unexpected, but fine by him.
Diego twisted and managed to disengage. He skittered back several paces to give himself some space and breathing room to reasses. Plan A of knocking the guy out: Failed. Time for Plan B. Which... uh. Well. Dez's shape was stepping to the left. Thinking about running? Diego wouldn't give him the chance.
So. Plan B: Make it up along the way. That usually worked out for him.
Diego sprang into action again, swinging a hard kick in Dez's path, intending to knock him back into the confines of the living room.
