Song Review: Roy Zimmerman feat. Deven Green - “My Conservative Girlfriend” (Live)
Date nights find Roy Zimmerman and “My Conservative Girlfriend” liberal-bashin’ on Fridays, Medicare-slashin’ on Wednesdays and wilderness-trashin’ in the summer.
With its additional lyrics about Donald Trump, small government and breakfasts of spotted-owl omelet, whites only, it’s a wonder Zimmerman wrote the tune in 1995. Yet he did just that, with then-conservative Arianna Huffington in mind.
These days, it’s dedicated to the likes of Michele Bachmann, Ann Coulter, Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Sanders and Zimmerman just released a live version of the prescient track featuring Deven Green, bka Mrs. Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian.
And from the day I checked her out from front to back, I knew her private sector could take up the slack, the comedians-cum-musicians sing to acoustic accompaniment.
What it lacks in musicality, the live rendition of “My Conservative Girlfriend” makes up for in hilarity and Zimmerman’s frightening ability to see the how The Party’s evolution would ultimately play itself out.
