I woke up at 3 am and got on tumblr. WHAT AH...WHAT IS GOING?

oh wow. i don’t know if i can explain (nor if i’m the right person to). but i’m going to try my best!

so basically, for context, back in 2012-2013, there was a super popular fandom (sort of THE Tumblr fandom) called the superwholock fandom which was a combination of supernatural, doctor who, and sherlock. the fandoms here mainly focused on the (non-canon queerbaiting) m/m ships between unattractive crusty white boys and eventually, as years wore on, these fandoms became less popular. but at its peak, the ship Destiel was SUUUPERRRR popular and it brought about a renaissance of a/b/o fic (i think), along with a lot of other stuff.

so, fast-forward to 2020, we’re in the middle of this super stressful election that has lasted for three days now, waiting for Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania to get their votes in and go blue, there’s been the Rayban sunglasses thing for weeks, coronavirus cases in the US are spiking, Breonna Taylor’s bf is getting sued, and a whole bunch of other stuff is going on that I can’t remember because there is too much. So because of this, we’re all slowly getting crazier and crazier, and suddenly, the Supernatural writers decide, 10 fucking years later, to make Destiel canon by having Castiel confess to Dean that he loves him right before having Castiel die and get sent to some sort of hell??? I’m not sure; I don’t watch the show. But whatever it was, that’s obviously homophobic!!! yuck!!!

so 2012!fandom folks are losing their shit while younger fandom is hella confused (I one of them) and someone decides to make it into a meme with Putin resigning because Destiel was canon in such a terrible way, and this ends up being how the MAJORITY of tumblr and twitter finds out about Putin stepping down (btw this is actually true of a sort, you can read more on it here). so this becomes a meme too, and with everything on top of another, it just is insanity.

What does meta mean

meta can mean a couple things! in terms of media, meta is talking about the show/book itself and the story and characters in their canon entities, as opposed to like headcanons and transformative fandom (i.e. fanfic/aus). like if i wanted to discuss why nova artino ended up the way she did on the anarchists side, how she was manipulated, etc. that’s meta!

there’s also an extrapolation of the term to just mean talking about a topic and exploring it in general. so like “fandom meta” would be someone talking about what fandom is, why discourse is happening, how certain fandom aspects work (as opposed to discussing the content of a fandom). fanfic meta (i use this tag, this may have been why you asked this ask haha) would be like talking about fanfiction as a whole, as opposed to talking about a certain fanfic and how good it is.

so basically, it’s discussing a concept in it’s original form. discussing content outside of it’s universe. if that makes sense?

monday: do you struggle with the ‘boring’ parts of writing?

i have a hard time not getting distracted when i write, so yes. usually what i do when this happens is take a break to do some laundry or dishes while watching youtube!

thursday: have you ever written a high fantasy concept?

YES YES YES! i have a one chapter original wip sitting in my docs about two sisters who become estranged as time passes and i kind of forget what happens but basically there are five kingdoms in this world, Seye, each with different powers and creature attributes...okay i know this sounds a lot like atla but i did not know what atla was at the time of making this up! i also have a *LOT* of low fantasy and space opera concepts.

but these are all original wips; in terms of fanfic i like to stick to writing canonverse or modern au fics, or au crossovers, not really any fantasy settings or things like that. i do like reading them though!

for the Seye story, i do want to continue this someday, but it’s been sadly abandoned for the last few years.

fortnight: what wip do you plan on posting next, if at all?

probably next i’ll either be posting:

- the next chapter of i’ll be with you from dusk ‘till dawn (baby i’m right here) soon, which is a star wars gingerrose canon divergence fic (rated e so proceed at your own disgretion)

- the next chapter of until i met you, my kaider soulmate au (which you know of already)

🌺 what is your current favorite wip?

my current favorite is definitely empire of our own, which is a star wars darkfic lol, but in terms of the fandoms you’re more likely to be in, i do have a soft spot for until i met you, which is a kaider soulmate au that i really need to work on, oof.

☄️ what fandoms do you write for?

mostly i write for star wars (19 works), renegades (11 works), harry potter (13 works), the grishaverse (11 works), and the lunar chronicles (9 works). i’m very multifandom though, so i’ve also written for the phantom of the opera, cats the musical, marvel, and the umbrella academy.

unil i met you: “Of course,” Cinder snorted with a hint of arrogance. For once, Kai was glad that he was wearing a mask, and that she was too, for otherwise, she would have recognized him. Honestly, it was better this way. If he was her soulmate, she wouldn’t have to be worried about entanglements with the royal family. “Can I ask you a question?” he finally blurted as Cinder leaned her head around to examine Nainsi’s white, domed head. The mechanic in question looked up, surprised with a hint of nervousness in her gaze. “Go ahead,” she said.

Idk, i just love kai being awkward and glad i added in mask-wearing for the lunar chronicles peeps who are going through a 100% death rate pandemic. lmao.

empire of our own: Reluctantly, Padmé nodded and let herself be led from the room into a small hall, where a storage closet held sleeping blankets and pillows in lieu of a traditional bed. As she pulled the mat-like blankets from their shelves and carried them with Obi-Wan back to the room where Anakin was lying in a coma, she silently thanked the Force that the beds in this apartment were done up in the Eastern Nabooian style, the same style that the Jedi used as well, for it allowed her to feel more connected to both her homes and be in Anakin's presence, resting in his slowly-beating Force signature. It was a small piece of comfort, but she would take what she could get.

i love angst and adding in bits of Asian culture that should have been in the films!
