Sam checked the house number against the piece of paper he held in his hand for the third time. He ran his fingers through his hair then finally rang the doorbell.
He heard a faint "I'll get it," then the clatter of feet.
The door opened. "Hi." A young girl stood behind the open door.
"Hi to you too. Is Devin here?"
"He's up in his room, moping. He's been doing that a lot."
"Could you tell him that Sam's here?"
She nodded and bolted off shrieking "Devin!"
It wasn't long before Sam saw the person he wanted most to see in the entire world. "Sam, you really came."
Sam nodded and pulled Devin into a hug. "I promised I would. I would have called you every day but you know the challenge rules meant I couldn't. I came here as soon as I could, barring one stop I made."
"You made a stop?" Devin was about to ask more when Sam kissed him tenderly on the lips. After a few moments, Devin forgot he had any questions.
When Sam finally let go, Devin watched as Sam dropped to one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket. "Devin, will you be mine forever more?"
