Summary: Ray Nadeem is love of Dex's life but by the time he realizes that he'd been sent to kill his partner by Wilson Fisk. Manipulated, and torn by loyalty to the mob-boss or Ray, Dex makes a decision. He doesn't take the shot, but someone else does. Fast forward, two years later and Dex has moved on only to still be haunted by Ray's ghost.

Snippet;

All local cops hated Feds so naturally Dex found his way onto their hit list. He'd leveled down on the career laddter as he sat in a drab cubicle reminding him of the menial job he held at the hotline.

"Almost done those reports, Poindexter," Mahoney asked, hands around a late afternoon coffee.

"Yes, Sergeant, been workin' hard," Dex replied, gesturing to a completed pile.

Mahoney nodded. "Good, cause you got Mayor duty. Fisk's appearing at a local school today."

"Seems Ironic, me protecting the man who ruined my FBI career," Dex replied.

"Your not the only one who's career Fisk ruined, half my department went to prison," Mahoney gestured to the empty desks. "So the FBI kicking you tot he curb, was my gain."

"He deserves to be in there with them, not sitting in a cushy office at city hall."
