It was indeed Darkrai... swallowing all of the Johto Gym Leaders into a sleep that caused them to destroy Kanto... their Pokémon to become sick and run rampant... to cause all this pain and suffering...
Red... what happened to Red? Was he truly sided with Darkrai, or likewise hypnotized?

Blackthorn's Dragon Clan were apparently responsible for much of the atrocity in Kanto. Ibuki herself, the Leader of Blackthorn Gym, is apparently responsible for decimating entire towns.
Ice Path remains untouched, as does Blackthorn City, from the looks of it...
Of course, after that, I had to head east from Mahogany, into the Winter's Edge. There I encountered a Dugtrio, stating that they had gotten separated from their child Diglett, and that Trainers were blocking their path. They implored me to rescue Diglett.
The Trainers were no problem. Plusle comes in very handy for most Trainers. How anyone can overlook this little guy is beyond me.
Reaching Diglett, therefore, was also no issue, and upon finding it, I let it know that it was safe to go back the way it came, back to its loving family at the very edge of Mahogany. I hope they find peace.

Team Rocket is at the Radio Tower in Goldenrod. Who knows what their plans are there. Spreading Shiny Sickness, if Shirona is to be believed...
Which does remind me, that supposedly, Pokémon uninvolved in the war, Pokémon from faraway places, are immune to Shiny Sickness.
