Analysis of a Dropbox Disaster
Our crack accident reconstruction experts were able to reconstruct the events that led to tonights disaster.
1. Works on data project for 2 hours on desktop computer saving project finally to the Dropbox folder.
2. Goes to notebook computer to see if the project files updated there through Dropbox. Notes that the files are older still.
3. Closes the project noticing that it updates all the time stamps. Casually thinks, "Oh shit".
4. Notices that Dropbox is now uploading changed project files from the Notebook. Shrugs shoulders.
5. Goes to the desktop computer to see why the newer files didn't come across.
6. Notes that the Dropbox service is not running.
7. Starts the Dropbox service. Notes that files start uploading and downloading. Urgent need to urinate.
8. Goes back the Notebook computer and notes that there is a mixture of old and new files. Notes catastrophic level of confusion.
9. Remembers the last time this happened diving across a table to yoink out a network cable.
10. Says fuck my life repeatedly.
