A band's best friend
As you can see, the song that just won't quit has reached Diamond certification by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), meaning it has 'achieved' 10 million units (sales and streaming equivalents) in the U.S.
In case you're confused by the fact that that TMWM reached Spotify's "Billions (with a "B") Club" status long ago, I can explain ...
Before digital streaming existed - a "unit" was one sale of a song. A "stream" is the digital consumption of a song or video without downloading a permanent file.
A "unit," in the eyes of RIAA, equals one sale, or one paid download of a song, or 150 streams (how RIAA came up with that number is anyone's guess). Hence, the difference in calculations between streams and units.
