diana mae mcvries - named after princess diana and mae west. her parents continued the trend of old hollywood actor names for their children.
parents met on a movie set in hollywood. mum was the director's daughter and dad was the lead - sparks flew and over the years they had five kids - archibald, diana, violet, (wc) & evelyn
family fame was relentless and the family moved to her fathers hometown of oxfordshire. diana never enjoyed fame, she found the whole thing isolating and moving to oxfordshire was another consequence of fame and suddenly they were all back to los angeles after her dad booked a role - the constant upheaval of her life was something she always argued against, begging for stability.
she started to resent being in the spotlight and opted to say in the background and become the recluse of the mcvries family.
eventually her mother caught her father in an affair with one of his costars. her mother never recovered from it and her mental health declined. diana received a call one day when she was 14 to tell her that her mother had taken her own life and art had found her. she went into crisis mode to protect her siblings and also organise as much as she could to allow her family to grieve.
every since her mothers passing, diana and her father were at loggerheads. it was war. she blamed him for everything that happened and he refused to take accountability for his affair - one that she was sure wasn't the first time from him.
despite the fighting with her father, she focused on her siblings and made sure they weren't caught in the crossfire. the mcvries siblings were close and they were the most valuable and treasured people in diana's life.
wasn't a fan of art & violet's partners - to put it politely
avoiding fame had diana turning to teaching. she loves her job.
took on a bit of a mom role with her siblings whenever they needed something.
fiercely protective of her siblings, would do anything for them - including murder but we don’t need to talk about that. very protective of her siblings.
a sensible sibling who is only the sensible sibling by default.
out of all the mcvries kids, diana is the logical, hard one but encouraged her siblings to do whatever they dreamed of doing.
was there when her dad died, they both fought to have the last word to slight the other. she won.
knew something was wrong when art went ghost hunting and didn't keep in contact or show up back home. then all hell broke loose when violet disappeared. diana made it her life's mission to find her siblings.
on her hunt for her siblings, she found art's research about huntsville, she thought she'd try the town to see if art maybe had decided to set up in town and stay - she wasn't that far off
