The Playdate
I checked the baby monitor to make sure JJ was still asleep before I snuck quietly into the nursery, I carefully lowered the crib rail and picked up the little boy and carried him over to the changing table before giving him a kiss on the forehead. I changed JJ into a fresh baby print diaper and a onesie that says “Daddy’s Boy.” When I picked him up off the changing table he was just starting to open his eyes,
“Dada?” The boy said as he started to realize where he was
“Good morning kiddo” I said and kissed him on the cheek. JJ blushed and tried to hide his face
“Who’s my little cutie pie?” I said
“Me dada!” The boy said excitedly, almost spitting out his paci. I placed JJ in his bouncer and gave the rope a little tug to get him going. The bouncer is just like any bouncer you might see for an 18 month old, but JJ isn’t any 18 month old, he’s 22 years old and 6 foot 3, so I made him a custom bouncer that would make him feel like the little toddler he is. While JJ bounced I got his breakfast ready, oatmeal and a big bottle of baby formula. JJ was bouncing away and giggling when I walked back into the living room, “are you having fun bubba?” I said “hehe yesh dada!” JJ said happily through his big pacifier. When JJ was done bouncing I picked him up and snapped him into his highchair. “Ready for breakfast kiddo?” I said and JJ nodded excitedly “here comes the train! Choo Choo!” I said while I fed JJ his oatmeal “Yummy yummy!” JJ said and he dribbled some oatmeal down his bib
“Aww who’s a messy baby?” I said and JJ blushed and tried to dodge the next spoonful of oatmeal “don’t be pouty little mister” I said and ruffled the boy’s hair
“One more bite bubba, nyoom here it comes!”
“Good boy!” I said as I wiped off JJ’s face with his bib
“Time for your bottle little buddy” i said as I picked up the boy out of his highchair, he wrapped his legs around me and put his chin on my shoulder and I patted his diapered butt as I carried him to the living room. I set JJ down on the playmat, sat down and rested his head on my lap and I started feeding the boy his bottle.
“All done!” I said when he was done with his formula
“Awll done dada!” JJ repeated, I chuckled and ruffled the boy’s hair.
I picked JJ up and set him down on his stomach in the playpen so he could have some tummy time and play with his toys while I got his diaper bag ready for our playdate today with JJ’s best friend Cooper!
I popped a purple pacifier in JJ’s mouth and gave him a couple pats on his diapered booty, he was already mesmerized by the pretty lights and cool sounds his toys were making.
“Mmmmnnnph” JJ grunted through his paci as he filled his diaper, he didn’t even seem to notice and kept on playing. I pulled a fresh diaper out of the diaper bag and laid it down next to JJ
“Time for changies champ” i said and patted JJ on the butt, I flipped the boy over so he was laying on his back.
“Are you excited to go play with Cooper?”
“Coop!” the boy said excitedly through his pacifier as I unsnapped his onesie. When I was done changing the boy’s diaper I picked him up and carried him out to the car and buckled him into his carseat, handed him his plastic keys and put his sippy cup of apple juice in the cupholder.
“Ready to go on an adventure bubba?”
“Yesh dada!” The boy said as he bounced up and down, his diaper crinkling loudly
When we got to Cooper’s house I got JJ out of his carseat and the boy ran up to the front door where Cooper’s daddy was waiting and opened the door for him,
“Hi Coop!” JJ said when he got inside and saw his best friend
“Hi JJ!” Cooper said as he waddled over to JJ in his bright green overalls and big thick diaper. The boys waddled off to the playroom while holding hands and crinkling the whole way
“What’s up Reed?” I said to Cooper’s daddy
“You know, keeping the little guy out of trouble” Reed smirked and we made our way to the playroom where the boys were already playing with Cooper’s model trains
“Vroom vroom” Cooper said as he rolled a train down the track
Reed sat down next to me on the couch with a squish
“Sounds like you have a wet pullup there bro” I said and giggled
“Nah bro, you do” Reed said and looked over at the boys
“I’m gonna go get Cooper’s stroller ready, he’s been wanting to go to the playground all day” Reed said as he stood up, ruffled his boys hair and went into the nursery.
“Hey little stinkers, do you wanna go to the playground” I said
“Yes!” The boys said in unison and Cooper waddled over to his nursery and said “dada! Pwaytime!”
Reed came out of the nursery with Cooper’s stroller and diaper bag and I went back to the car and got JJ’s stroller
When I got back into the playroom Reed was helping Cooper into the stroller and JJ was patiently sitting criss cross applesauce waiting for me “Dada!” JJ said and tried to stand up but he fell right back on his diapered booty and started laughing
“Aww who’s my silly boy?” I said
“Me dada, JJ good boy!” the 22 year old said
“Uppies” JJ said and reached out his arms to me, I picked him up and set him in the stroller, then I buckled him, snapped the tray back on and put his sippy cup in the cupholder for him
“Are you ready boys?” I said
“Yesh!” JJ and Cooper said through their pacis
As we walked down the street to the playground Cooper was totally fascinated by the teething ring Reed gave him when we left the house and JJ was playing with his stuffed dragon named blaze and babbling happily through his paci
At one point a college aged guy came up to us walking the opposite direction
“Aww hi there little cuties” he said looking down at JJ and Cooper in their strollers
“Hewwo” Cooper said and smiled at the man
“Puppy!” JJ said excitedly, reaching down to pet the man’s dog
“What’s your name little buddy?” The man said to Cooper
“Cooper” he said and showed the man his teething ring
“I’m JJ” JJ said and looked up at the man
“Aww they’re so adorable” the man said
“How old are they?” The man said
“They’re both 22” Reed said
“They grow up so fast don’t they! And they’re so mature for their age!” The man said and started walking again
When we got to the playground me and Reed got the little guys out of their strollers and they immediately ran to the slides
“Look dada!” JJ said from the top of a big twisty slide, he smiled at me through his paci before going down
“Wow, good job kiddo!” I said when JJ got to the bottom.
Meanwhile Cooper was already playing on the monkey bars and trying to count every rung out loud but the silly little guy can only count to five! When the boys had gone down the slides a few times and JJ had his turn on the monkey bars, Cooper waddled over to me and Reed and said
“Daddy can i go on the swings?”
“Sure champ!” Reed said, JJ noticed Cooper and Reed walking toward the swings and he started waddling to the swings too.
Since JJ and Coop are big strong football players they don’t fit in baby swings anymore, but this park has adult sized baby swings since there’s so many littles in our neighborhood who wanted to use them!
“Uppies!” Cooper said and reached out to Reed, Reed picked him up and set him in the swing and I did the same with JJ.
“Weeeeee!” The boys said when we started pushing them
“Look dada I’m a rocketship!” Coop said and started giggling
“I’m a wocketship too!” JJ said and the boys giggled together while me and Reed pushed them.
When the boys were done swinging we picked them up out of the swings and they waddled over to the slides
“One more time kiddos, then it’s time for lunch” I said and grabbed JJ’s diaper bag.
When the boys were done they came over to me and Reed and they both took a drink from their sippy cups, then JJ got in his stroller all by himself and I buckled him in while Reed helped Cooper into his.
When we got back to the house the boys waddled in and waited patiently for me and Reed to put them in their highchairs. Once the little boys were snapped in I put the boys bibs on and Reed brought out a bowl of spaghetti for each of them “sketti!” JJ said “yummy!” Cooper said. The boys started to eat their spaghetti with their hands, getting sauce all over their faces and bibs “look dada!” JJ said as he started playing with the sauce on the tray of his highchair “aww you’re such a silly little guy aren’t you!” I said as I wiped the sauce off the boy’s face with his bib “all done dada!” Coop said and showed Reed his empty bowl “good job champ!” Reed said while he cleaned up his little boy “are you ready for dessert lil dudes?” I said as I put three Oreos in front of each of the boys, JJ picked one of his up and handed it to Coop and said “dis one is yours coop!” “Fanks JJ!” Coop said and he handed JJ one of his Oreos “fank you!” JJ said. The boys ate their cookies and drank their bottles of chocolate milk and when they were all done me and Reed got the toddlers out of their highchairs “uppies dada!” JJ said and I picked him up and he wrapped his legs around me.
I carried JJ into the living room and Cooper followed us while Reed cleaned up the kiddos lunch. “Alright boys, we can watch one show before nap time” I said as I set JJ down on the playmat “Blue! Blue!” Coop said through his pacifier. “Do you wanna watch blue’s clues Coop?” I said and the boys nodded excitedly. JJ and Cooper snuggled up to each other, ready to watch their favorite show. When the episode was over the boys were already half asleep, so me and Reed picked up JJ and Cooper and carried them into Cooper’s nursery.
Reed set Cooper down on the changing table and handed him a stuffed duck to play with while he got the boy pj’s and a fresh diaper. While he did that I laid JJ down on his changing mat and handed him Henry the elephant. I changed JJ into a fresh diaper and baby blue footie pajamas with teddy bears on them. When Reed undid the snaps on Cooper’s shortalls he said “Woah! Looks like someone made a big poopy for daddy!” Cooper giggled and covered his face with his stuffie. Reed changed him into a fresh pamp and Cookie Monster print footie pj’s. When the boys were ready for their nap Cooper climbed into the crib all by himself and I picked up JJ and set him down in the crib next to his best friend. The boys grabbed their favorite stuffies, JJ had Henry the elephant and Coop had Jake the eagle, then they got all snuggled up together and I tucked them in, then Reed sat on the edge of the crib and he read the boys a bedtime story. When he was done reading the boys were already fast asleep, Reed gave each of them a kiss on the forehead and said “sleep tight boys” then I did the same and said “nite nite little buddies” then Reed raised the crib rail and locked it in place, I turned on the mobile and nightlight and we snuck very quietly out of the nursery and closed the door behind us.
“Do you need a fresh pullup bro?” Reed said, “no, but I think you definitely need a change dude” I said and patted Reed on the butt. “Yep, pretty soggy down there bro” I changed Reed first and he was totally soaked, then he changed my pullup but I was only a little bit wet. Once we each had a dry XXL Goodnite on we sat on the couch in just our pullups and tshirts and we played rocket league on Reed’s Xbox while the boys slept. After a few rounds we heard a sound from the baby monitor, the boys were up, babbling back and forth through their pacis and playing with their stuffies. We let the boys play in the crib a little bit longer before we went to get them.
“Dada!” Both of the toddlers said when me and Reed walked into the nursery. “Uppies dada!” Coop said and reached out to Reed and we picked up our boys. “How did you sleep little dudes?” Reed asked “good dada” coop said through his paci. We carried the boys into the playroom and changed them into their play clothes, matching football patterned onesies. JJ and Cooper both had wet diapers after their nap but we didn’t change them because they weren’t wet enough yet. Reed brought out the big box of mega blocks and dumped them out in front of the boys. JJ built a tower out of the blocks and he put Henry on top of it when he was done “Look dada look!” JJ said, proud of his block tower “good job kiddo!” I said and ruffled his hair “is Henry gonna fly down from the top?” I said, then the boy said “he’s super Henry!” then he grabbed the elephant and flew him around before putting him back on top of the tower. Cooper was also building a tower and JJ wanted to help so he took his tower apart and helped make Cooper’s tower taller. When they were done Cooper said “watch me dada!” and then he knocked over all the blocks and the boys both laughed “aww you’re such a silly little guy Coop” Reed said. Now the boys wanted to play with their Squishmallows, so Cooper waddled over and grabbed a big basket full of them and dumped them all out in front of JJ. The boys love to play with Squishmallows and they took turns bonking each other with the soft-body toys. After a few minutes the boys decided to play catch with one of the stuffies. After tossing it back and forth a few times JJ caught the Squishmallow, squatted down, and made a “Mmmmnnnph” sound through his Paci as he messed his already wet diaper, before tossing the stuffie back to Coop and resuming their game. “JJ, did you just make a stinky?” I said with a smirk “Nah uh” JJ said and put his hands over his butt, Then he waddled off into a corner to try and hide from a diaper change. “Oh no, where did JJ go?” I said, then I walked up behind the boy and tickled him, we both laughed then I ruffled his hair and said “Are you ready for changies champ?” And the quarterback blushed and nodded his head. JJ laid down on the changing mat while I got a fresh diaper ready. I unsnapped the onesie and untaped JJ’s soaked and messy diaper “Legs up!” I said, and slipped the old diaper out from under him and then cleaned him up with a baby wipe before sliding a fresh Kiddo Sea Friends diaper under his butt and sprinkling baby powder on JJ and the diaper. Then JJ reached out to me and muffled something through his pacifier, I said “Do you wanna help me kiddo?” And JJ nodded. I grabbed the front of the diaper, pulled it over his boy parts then JJ grabbed it from me. “Hold that super still for Daddy” I said. I adjusted the diaper and made sure it was a snug fit before taping it onto the boy. “Good job kiddo!” I said, as I snapped JJ’s onesie shut again, then I grabbed JJ’s hands and pulled him up so he was sitting, then I kissed him on the forehead, JJ giggled and I said “All done!” And ruffled JJ’s hair.
After I sat back down on the couch and the boys went back to playing catch JJ said “Catch dada!” And he threw the Squishmallow to me, then I tossed it to Reed then all four of us played catch until the boys got bored and decided to do something else. A few minutes later when JJ and Coop were playing with Hot Wheels cars Cooper squatted down and said “watch this JJ!” And then he loudly filled his diaper. JJ laughed and said “Coop made big poopies!” And patted Cooper on his squishy butt. Reed said “Alright Coop, time for changies” then Cooper tried to hide behind JJ and said “nuh uh, JJ made stinkies!” Reed replied “alright, lets check your diapers” and he unsnapped both of the boy’s onesies Then he squished both of their butts and looked in the back of each of their diapers “Looks like Coop needs a diaper change and JJ doesn’t” Reed said and ruffled his little’s hair. Reed snapped JJ’s onesie back over his diaper and Coop laid down on the changing mat with a squish and a “hmmph”
Reed changed Cooper into a fresh Super Dry Kids diaper. When he was done JJ laid down on his stomach next to Coop and Coop rolled over, and the little ones played with their stuffies.
A little while later I said “Alright little buddy, it’s almost time to go home” and JJ said “nuh uh, I don’t wanna”
“yeah, I wanna keep pwayin wif JJ!” Cooper said. A few minutes later I picked up JJ and Reed picked up Cooper, we carried the boys to the front door and I helped JJ put his Crocs on. “Bye bye Coop!” JJ said and waved to his buddy, “Bye bye JJ!” Coop said and waved back, then JJ waddled out to the car and opened the door and waited for me to help him into his carseat. “Did you have fun today kiddo?” I said as I started the car, “Yesh!” JJ said, almost spitting out his pacifier in excitement, JJ said “I wanna pway wif Coop again!” I responded “You can play with Coop all day at daycare tomorrow!”
“Yay!” JJ said and bounced his cute little diapered butt up and down in his carseat.
When we got back to the house I got JJ out of his carseat and picked him up, then he wrapped his arms and legs around me and rested his chin on my shoulder.
I carried JJ into the house and set him down in the playpen so he could play with his toys while I got his dinner ready. When I was ready I brought out JJ’s dinner, dino nuggets with ketchup to dip them in and applesauce. When JJ was done with his dinner I got him out of his highchair and carried him into the living room, I sat down on the couch and JJ laid down with his head in my lap so I could feed him his bottle. As I fed JJ his apple juice I turned on the TV and put on a football game for us to watch. Even when JJ is deep in little space he loves to watch football and we both love to cuddle and watch football before bedtime. When the boy was done with his bottle I gave him a dark blue pacifier and Henry the elephant, then I cuddled up with JJ and put a blanket over us. A couple hours later JJ fell asleep, once the game we were watching was over I got up, picked up JJ and carried him into the nursery. I softly set JJ down on the changing table and went to get his pjs and a fresh diaper. I changed JJ’s soaked and messy diaper, I put him in a fresh Kiddo Premium Nights diaper with a booster and a dark green bear print footed onesie. I picked up JJ and put him in the crib, he was still holding onto Henry and I gave him his favorite stuffed monkey before tucking him in. Then I gave JJ a kiss on the forehead and said “Nite nite JJ, I love you.”
