SEND IN A ❣ FOR A RANDOM KISS | @diedforthem#7 — a hug + kiss combo
The French countryside sprawls as far as the eye can see. A gentle breeze flits through the open windows, stirring the linen curtains and filling the room with the scent of blossoming lavender. Isaac closes his eyes and breathes it all in, allowing for the serenity it inspires to wash over him. It’s mid-morning and the world is theirs for the taking, but they’re in no rush to seize the opportunities it has to offer.
Sometimes contentment lures his doubts out from the dank little corners of his mind, and he worries that he’s not really here——that none of this is real. When Allison relaxes against his chest, he shifts his arms to better accommodate her frame, tightening his embrace. The warmth of her bare back bleeds through the thin fabric of his shirt, her weight a comfortable reminder that none of this is imagined. The wedding—and the night that followed it—happened.
Tilting his head forward, he softly presses his lips to the crook of her neck. It’s understated but accounts for the depth of his love for her, and he doesn’t linger to bastardise it into something else. After all, yesterday was filled with all manner of kisses: at the altar, for the pictures, at the reception, and the all-too-familiar drunken slobbering mess that constituted much of their college years and the better part of last night.
Rolling his shoulders back, Isaac nuzzles the messy bun atop her head and opens his eyes to admire the provencal landscape. His fingers slip between hers, the ring on his finger a feeling he’s yet to grow accustomed to, much like the bump beneath her summer dress. If it weren’t for the latter, they’d likely have never settled, and what a shame would that have been.
