Listen. Little me was so obsessed with this song I listened to it on repeat on a CD until the CD BROKE.
Here’s the winner performance which is slightly funnier than the normal performance
First of all because, if you look carefully in the background, the guy in red TRIPS before he quickly gets up and goes to sing
Second of all, at 1:22, you can hear someone shout ”ENGELSKA!” (”ENGLISH!”) - because they had agreed that if they would win they would sing it in english. So he shouted that to make sure his brother would remember to switch language.
What is also so funny is that a song about golden shoes would be treated as a ”joke entry” in today’s esc. It would be a chance they wouldn’t even go to the finals. But things were much different in the 80s.

Giannis Karagiannis unveils video for ‘Diggiloo, Diggiley’
Cypriot contestant for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, Giannis Karagiannis has unveiled the official video for his cover of the Herrey’s 1984 winning song ‘Diggiloo, Diggiley’. The song has been adapted by Karagiannis to take on more of a jazz influence and the video sees him perform in a 1920s style speakeasy club to an intimate crowd accompanied by a Big Band. (more…)
