Digital Learning & Development Strategy
Digital content is now being used for learning in the E-learning environment and has greatly increased since the last decade. Digital Learning is the fastest-growing market. From the last decade, the global e-learning market has grown by 900 percent. Due to the widespread availability of digital learning, the teaching and learning process is taking a quantum leap toward global accessibility. The emergency of massive open online courses is breaking downtime and geographical barriers.
As far as a learner are concerned, the advancement in digital learning technology has led to increased responsibility. This requires different motivation and discipline, which may not yet be well served by the daily work environment. Having said this, Digital learning courses may not the right solution for everyone and many e-learning programs fall short of meeting the goals as required.
Digital learning & development strategy is about shaping the way an organization brings in digital learning in all its forms. This can range from blogs and videos to webinars and online collaboration through online courses, immersive experiences, and resources. The aim is to facilitate the employ eesto learn new skills, enhance their performance, or develop themselves for the future.Availability and increase of digital information necessitate the availability of tools that help students and teaching staff members organize and integrate e-resources effectively.
At the same time, courses continuously increase online over the last decade. As a result of the increase and complexity of knowledge in various fields, many studies reported that students who have self-organization of their studies in an E-learning environment often suffer from the over-cognitive load. Additionally, this may confusewhile exploration, especially when resources-based learning strategy is followed during studying. Consequently, there is a bad need for the tools that manage digital information in the educational contexts without exhausting the learner’s working memory.
Huang Chiu, Liu, and Chen (2011) stated that several studies have attempted to use education and information technology to enhance achieving meaningful learning recently. They illustrated that using education technology and its tools should enable learners to involve in meaningful learning rather than achieving constructive learning.
Studies and researches relevant to developing E-learning content verified the necessity of developing new access, strategies, methods, and tools that develop E-content essential for various E-learning environments to contribute to two aspects:
· Supporting learners in learning and self-regulation of knowledge management and assisting them to gain, regulate, and represent knowledge and its self- assessment.
· Providing individual exploration and visual search for learning sources in knowledge vaults and learning content management, especially in contexts of sources-based learning.
Digitization technologies are also improving day by day making it easier to turn analog content into digital content.
With proper planning, digital learning initiatives can offer a scalable way to deepen development training and drive training throughout the organization. Thoughtfully assessing the development needs of the organization and taking time to get senior management’s support provides a firm foundation on which the initiative can be built. The effective evaluation confirms that development is progressing and that there is a measurable return on the investment.
