Tama Iron Cobra 600 Series pedal
I like the idea of an electronic drum kit and for the most part I can find a use for it besides having it as a live drum set for a rock band. Every electronic drum kit has a brain, or a module that plays a specific type of sound whenever a hit is registered on a drum. Although sticks need to be used to have any effect, this is really not far from what beat makers do when they are pounding away on their Akai MPC’s or NI Maschines. The difference between the two of them is what I like most. Although you have an electronic drum set that doesn’t produce its own acoustics, you are still allowed to use actually drum sticks and actual drum pedals. So while you eliminate the method in which sound is produced, you are still engaged in the process physically. This is akin to the way DVS programs bank on the fact that you still like to touch your vinyl. While they have eliminated the acoustic sound produced by vinyl records, they have made up for it by the sheer amount of music that can be played through the system. It’s a decent tradeoff that doesn’t take too much from the original form. http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/drums/tama-iron-cobra-600-series-pedal-576058
