Your Happy Place: Four of the Bests of Kapatagan - The Summer Capital of the South

Lying at the foot of Mt. Apo, the Philippines’ tallest mountain, is a beautiful and unique barangay which physical features are characterized agricultural, residential, and commercial lands - Brgy. HOW TO GET THERE?

45mins to 1-hour ride from Davao City to Digos City, “the gateway to the South”:

- Ride a pedicab going to Van Terminal heading to Kapatagan for P100. 

- Another 30mins-50mins ride from the heart of Digos City to Kapatagan.

CAMP SABROS

Be mesmerized with the beauty and cold breeze of the nature at Camp Sabros. It is considered as the top tourist destination in Kapatagan. You can enjoy the scenic view for as low as P50/person only!

It is highly recommended for everyone -- solo, couples, families, barkadas. You can bring your own foods and eat within the area while having fun and enjoying the place as they have wooden tables and chairs available and feel like having “a perfect picnic” experience :) (however, there is a corkage fee)

No food? No problem! Their resto is available to serve. Its vintage ambiance keeps your eyes busy looking on every corner. It gives you a feeling of a major throwback from the 1900′s, where cowboy fashion is a big thing.

They also have indoor recreational activities inside the resto such as billiard and tabletop football that you can enjoy together with your friends, family, or loved ones while waiting for your order/s:

MT. APO HIGHLANDS’ CIVET COFFEE

Another reason for the Davaoenos to be proud of is the Civet Coffee which is considered to be the world’s most expensive coffee. The coffee is made from the poop of the Civet cats living peacefully around the place. The coffee is made available at the Mt. Apo HIghlands Resort, owned by Dizon Farms. 

You can enjoy the awakening aroma of the Civet Coffee for P200 per cup.

You can also take a glimpse on some of the Civet cats taken care by the management. (Sadly our team wasn’t able to look at the Civet cats live as they were said to be sleeping when we arrived. The caretaker said it is best to avoid taking photos of them, especially if your camera has a flash, for the safety of the said animals).

The resort also has rooms available for those who want to spend an overnight in the place. At morning, you will once again see the beauty of Mt. Apo right infront of you. 

THE LAKE MIRROR

Only few kilometers away from the Mt. Apo Highland Resort is the Lake Mirror which is also owned by the Dizon Farms Management. It truly served as a mirror for the Mt. Apo as you will get to see its reflection on the waters of the lake when the fogs doesn’t surround. 

You can chill and enjoy the relaxing ambiance of the place for only P50/person. 

You may also enjoy fishing in the lake for your past time FOR FREE! 

Yes, you heard it right -- FISHING IS FOR FREE, whether you catch a fish (tilapia) or not!

MARAWER HOT SPRING

Entrance fee: P15 (adults), free entrance for children

If you’re not used to the cold climate in the place, you may also want to experience taking a bath on hot spring at Marawer, Kapatagan.

The water the flows from the pipe is hot enough to keep you warmth :)

Aside from hot spring, you may also enjoy the cold and fresh water from the stream while bonding with your families and friends :)

Cold water plus lovely flowers -- surely you’ll never miss the chance to experience these at Princess Edens Resort! This resort is still newly-opened and improvements of the place is still on-going.

Surrounding the vicinity are plenty of flowers with vibrant colors that will surely catch everyone’s attention.

The places we have visited are only four of the numerous places that Kapatagan, Digos City has to offer to the world, others are possibly still to be discovered. 

Kapatagan is truly a wonderful place. The locals are very lucky to have been gifted with such a natural beauty.
