"Wha- What do you mean you won't form a team with me!?"

In one of Castelia City's many alleyways, three young Pokemon were having a bit of a chat. Them being a Purrloin, Meowth, and the rejected Eevee.

"Sorry, but we're sticking together for now." Purred the Dark-type cat. "Besides, we'd never get in with your record."

"Oh, that's rich coming from you!" The Eevee spat, fluffy tail lashing angrily as she started down the alley. "Fine, go on ahead! I'll find someone else to partner with!"

She didn't wait for them to respond to her comment. Arriving at Central Plaza, Rind huffed and slunk off into a different alley and found herself near Gym Street. Nobody appeared to be here.

The pricks of frustrated tears were blinked away. Who's bright idea was it to make it a rule that teams had to have at least two Pokemon in them? It wasn't very fair for a Pokemon with very few friends and a little misdemeanor or two on her record.

Before she could melt into a mess of tears at her situation, Rind sensed she wasn't exactly alone out here. And how embarrassing would that be, for someone else to find her crying like this!

"Uh... Hello?" The Eevee's feeble voice rang out down a seemingly empty alley. "If you're trying to mug me, just don't. I'm not in a good mood right now, and..."

She trailed off.
