We've been working on another feature length comedy script. We're basically writing the whole thing as an excuse to have a badass, 80's titular theme song. Lots of saxophone.
Some inspiration above.
While we were away we shot an awesome promo for Chicago's own GrubHub! They're an amazing company that began in a Chicago apartment and have grown to national success. You've probably ordered take out through them on a few occasions. The goal was to show the company culture in a humorous, fast-paced, short form piece. I'd say we nailed it, mostly due the fact that after watching it I was left with the feeling in my chest of, "(sigh) I want to work there".
Hope you enjoy it, very pleased with how it turned out.
Spent the last three weeks shooting stills on the set of The Origins of Wit & Humor, the first feature length film from Dimestore Films. IT WAS AWESOME. Here's my last batch of favorites. The last night was an overnight shoot, which is why it starts to look like we're suffering through a carbon monoxide leak towards the end. See all my photos & more info on the film on their Facebook page.

Feel like an exciting announcement? Of course you do. We are ecstatic to share with you that Les, our main character, will be played by the extremely talented Joe Hursley. You've seen him stealing scenes in such films as Accepted, Resident Evil: Extinction, Balls to the Walls, and many others. He's also brought his amazing energy and comedic timing to countless commercial pieces. From our first conversation with Joe we were floored by his investment and understanding in the character and story. Quite frankly, he just GOT IT. Which is amazing to find as writers. Not to mention his full throttle work ethic and willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the vision of the project, frankly, we feel extremely lucky to have found and landed him. We look forward to presenting him with a best friend bracelet we refuse to let him take off. Check out his reel to get pumped.
Happy 4th of July from DimeStore Films. Enjoy a little slice of vengeance from Uncle Sam himself in our early short film, The Star Strangled Banner.
Friends of DimeStore,
You've been along for the ride with us for quite some time now, you've seen the behind the scenes shenanigans, the short films, the commercials, the photos of us with cake. We're now taking the next step with our filmmaking careers and Kickstarting our first feature length comedy, The Origins of Wit & Humor. But we can't do it alone. You folks have always been kind, supportive, and in general, people who give us inspiration or just a laugh as we scroll down our feed. We hope to have you colloborate with us on this project and keep the community spirit alive.
We hope you’ll consider a donation of whatever amount you can give. We guarantee it will help. Not only that, but we’d be forever grateful to you. If you see us dining al fresco, come up and take a fry off the plate. We owe that and more.
Please, if you like the campaign, the tshirts, our work, the teaser trailer, spread the word with a reblog. Every eye on the page helps. We thank you immensely for visiting.
Some quick info about the project:
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
A comedy writer trying to figure out if he has anything to say if he’s not trying to get a laugh. Can he let sincerity bleed over the reflex to joke and gain approval? We keep that deeper theme light and interesting with a dash of magical realism and array of eccentric characters. Want to find out more and check out a teaser trailer for the film? Check out the video above.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
A plethora of awesome prizes, rewards, and thank you gifts. Limited Edition Tshirts, art prints, digital goods, and a whole lot more. Not to mention we have several unique gift levels that allow to you collaborate with us on the making of the film. For example, you can vote on props, costumes, etc to see what makes the final cut. Get your art on screen to dress our sets. Name a character. Even get a speaking role. Again, find out more on the kickstarter page.
