Diploma Project, under the title:
Design of an innovative Library at the Campus of Lublin University of Technology.
An energy-efficient, sustainable design of a library is situated at the campus of Lublin University of Technology in Poland. The post-communist urban sprawl is characterized by cubic blocks and oldfashioned architecture.
Based on ecological solutions and innovative approach to architecture design the building does not intent to separate from the surroundings. In contrary reflects the environment and remains open to public.
The design, an iconic symbol of the campus establishement transforms the past architecture to mark in a new way.
A multilayer elevation acts as human skin in order to convert harmful, solar radiation into heat. Air exchange system localized beneath frost penetration level supports mechanical ventilation. The light is directed to the interior through a giant light-shift illuminates the interior from the inside, provides additional energy gains.
Although the primary function of the building is bioclimatic control the design finds its expression in high-tech architecture and exposing technical installation. The design remain in equilibrium with construction, technology and art.
