Good morning, it has been a crazy week. I had gone for a job interview internally, for the company that I work for due to a significant cut in our biweekly hours. The administration had found out and one of the higher up peoples stopped and called me over at the celebration of life for a client we just lost to state that they don't want to lose me. This means a lot, and I was already caught with my heartstrings pulled due to the situation and environment we were in, as long as I have my hours and I can survive, I love my job.
I am staying where I am at and grateful that I am. I am so hoping that they can provide us our hours. We need to eat and shit, too.
I work in a group home with intellectually disabled clients. 12 of them at max. They are for me, secondary family. I just have my mom, so it's my mom, my cat, and them. I love my life.
Being a direct support professional is a great experience. You get to literally help these men and women live and thrive and tag along with them to fun events and experiences.
Highly recommend this field of work! The pay is not in what you see in your wallet, it's what goes into your heart.
