Giant textured tangle, specifically designed for color and texture discrimination to help blind children
I splurged on a nice rolly shop stool with a low back and it's SO GOOD OMG it saved SO MUCH energy already and I don't start hurting quickly like I do with the kneeling mat/pillow combo I was using before
Yayyyyyyy
I’m at a library with this thing and the Wi-Fi seems to connect but when I log into the cloud based backup system it just repeatedly asks me to enter my email.
Also this thing’s keyboard is loud enough for me to be self conscious while using it here and I press o. The keys as gently as possible.
Actually sitting at a desk and putting words into it feels nicer than I expected, especially since this has a screen that actually displays text entered in real time, unlike the other Freewrite models.
Okay time to get out my Pomera DM 100 from almost 20 years ago to actually be able to do some useful work on my next project.
Finn's School Drawings,, but I both got my cane in AND it's my transiversery :D
and yes,, those were highlighters
Hey, remember when I ranted about this thing when it was announced?
Well... I've got it now.
Yay?
This is the first crowdfunding campaign reward for electronics I ever received.
I gotta admit, for all the problems I have with this...
It feels nice to hold and looks nice to look at.
Its deliberately built-in impediments to editing are explicitly hostile to my writing process, which for the only English-specific dedicated word processor on the market is KIND OF A PROBLEM, but I'm glad this thing exists nonetheless and I hope these folks the best of success.
I do intend to give this the best chance my lifestyle and writing style allow.
Im very blessed to be able to work with Moving Star. We share their products, get an idea of local interest and needs, my mother worked hard to have ACC acknowledge Moving Star and purchase them for those who need them. I recommend them because they fold up, come apart, fit in a car boot, zip around on grass, and are largely under $10000.
They are really amazing wheelchairs. Ive flown with mine, taken it off-road and it has been an incredibly freeing and improved my mental health enourmously. Im not saying this just because we make a small commission if you buy them outright and name-drop us, but i honestly recommend trying to get ACC to pay for it, since they also take on responsibility for repairs and replacement of peices/parts, and im sorry but we deserve mobility aids even if we can't drop large amounts of money on a mobility device, even if it is a good price for a great mobility device.
Please DM me for any further questions, curiosities etc, im happy to either answer myself or figure out how to find out!
Idk who needs to know this but the Apple app Shortcuts has many accessibility features you can add to your phone, including one that will make a pain report for you in Notes and will ask you if you’d like Siri to read it out loud so you can tell the people around you. You can use it by going into the Shortcuts app or turn it into an icon you can tap on your home screen.
Go into the Shortcuts app, go to Gallery (it’s at the bottom), and then click the Shortcuts for Accessibility tab. Click the plus buttons on the ones that would be useful for you to add them to the main page. If you want to add one as an icon on your home screen, tap the three dots in the corner of the shortcut, click the share button, and then Add to Home Screen.
You can also customize shortcuts, make your own, or automate them. If you’ve ever used Scratch for coding, this is similar.
Here’s a Fatigue Report shortcut I customized based on the Pain Report shortcut. It’s customized to my symptoms but hopefully you can design it to be useful for you!

Listen, as much as I moan about the things I WISH that Astrohaus was willing to try with future Freewrite models... there's a reason this concept didn't just fall flat on its face during the crowdfunding of the original Smart Typewriter product and has survived for YEARS to have a range of three different models.
Young people with NO context for nostalgia are COMPELLED by a machine that provokes them to create.
