Elliott manor, 1:21 AM.
That must have been one heck of a party last night.
One or two of the other drones they worked with were lucky to sneak a few glances through the door cracks... At this party there was a lot of talking about how happy the Elliotts were for their latest most successful... whatever, V had not been around for most of their mentions of what they did. All she knew was that she was just one of their dogs that they got from the dumpster. One of the ones that little Tessa was shamed for all for the oh-so horrible crime of liking their company.
But we're getting off track.
The party had apparently been a big one, with lots of talking and drinking and what seemed to be the result of a few fights because some of the party-goers were so inebriated. What was it that the humans drank that made them act like they had computer viruses? It was scary to think about, but not as scary as what some of them would do to some drones with their fists and utensils. V even got flashbacks to what had happened to poor Evenlyn when Lord Frumptlebucket had so many glasses of... uhh... "whisk-keys"...?
By now, the humans were asleep. And she remembered her task given to her and her friend N by Miss Louisa from a few hours ago; "Clean up this mess before I wake up, or there will be hell to pay". Even though it was hours ago, those words echoed through V's head as she felt the dents and scratches and scars on her chassis. Some of them had come from Louisa, while others were from the other humans. But it still felt like they'd happened only yesterday...
Right now, the worker drone was on the floor with a dustpan and a broom, sweeping up some glass pieces. She felt that getting rid of those would be best, considering how humans get cut easily on them. She straightened the dustpan slightly to keep the broken bits from sliding off as she slowly got up after finishing sweeping them up.
As she got up, she took note of the CD Player on the chair next to her, right by where the glass was. She'd heard a few tunes from it before, some of which she liked, but sometimes didn't have time to stay and truly listen to them for very long.
...Maybe that could be different.
"..." Her temptation beginning to take hold, V placed the dustpan down and reached a single metal hand towards the player, hoping to turn it on and maybe see if she could get it to play one of those really nice songs...
