tbh, your joke has some truth to it. we see victor from yuuri’s pov most of the time and he thinks he’s the most attractive and best person in the world. So, from his eyes Victor could actually appear better than he actually is. I remember reading some fans say the only reason Yuuri looked angelic when sleeping in ep. 10 is becuase it was from Victor’s POV. If they want to apply that logic, then you gotta apply it to victor as well. Just being fair.
I’ve seen more than one person say that Yuuri appears more beautiful across the series because Victor is ‘falling in love with him’, which doesn’t even make sense because outside of a few moments in the last two episodes and episode ten, the show isn’t in his perspective. On the flip though, you’re right, you never see the opposite, which is ironic because YEAH we ARE seeing Victor from Yuuri’s perspective 90% of the time. And if you’re going to argue it one way... well...
(the angelic while sleeping thing is very silly because yeah there’s the sleeping beauty comment, but we see him asleep again the next morning not from ‘Victor’s perspective’ and he looks just as cute?)
Like it’s not that deep in either case. The show has unreliable narration at points, but it’s regarding Yuuri’s perception of himself, not the appearance of characters. You could argue, in a sense, that Yuuri becomes more beautiful because he realizes it about himself, but that would mean he already was, because everything Yuuri realizes about himself are things that are already there (which is kind of the point).
