Christian Zimmerman - Gas Hero (Out Of Bounds)
Introducing Out Of Bounds, a recently launched label hailing from Birmingham, UK that's ready to explore quality house business of varying tempos and styles. This second release unveils "Gas Hero," a spacey, slo-mo house track from Christian Zimmerman who has been dropping tunes since the mid-90s under various guises. Also originally from Birmingham, and born as Christian Davies, the producer's first sounds were revealed via DIY's Diversions label under the Men O'Harlick moniker, moving on to collaborations as Stargazer II for Ideal Records, and finally as Christian Zimmerman with "Diary Of A Lost Girl" on Nathan Gregory’s Giant 45 label. Ewan Pearson remixed the latter, gaining huge support from the likes of Jazzanova and Gilles Peterson. Now Zimmerman returns with "Gas Hero," a beautifully textured masterpiece of leisurely rhythms, strong bass tones, floaty synth melodies, and evocative dynamics. Pete Herbert (Maxi Discs, Redux) crafts the track into a slightly speedier take with his B1 mix, adding a bit of Herbert's sharply honed production prowess to the proceedings. Fanciful synth arpeggiations and solid dance floor drive make this yet another feather in the cap of the maestro. Finally, Out Of Bounds in-house production dup Discomendments provide their B68 mix which explores the deeper and dubbier regions of "Gas Hero" by opening up space around the infectious bass groove. Three prime cuts for cosmic club affairs, ready for action. It’s good to see Christian Zimmerman back and he can be currently found recording Canadian bear songs in the evergreen forests of Manitoba. We are sure he will live to tell the tale.

Discomendments, where have these guys been all my life? It’s really nice, atmospheric, and musical.“ LTJ X-Perience - ”I’m digging the original version. I also love the deep touch of Discomendments.“ Bruce Tantum (TimeOut NY) - ”Loving all three mixes, really! Solid, near-stately electronic disco on all three cuts.“ Al Bradley (3am Recordings) - ”Mint release, tough to call between the three mixes! The original is superb … classy lo-slung deep vibes. Pete Herbert adds his usual high-grade feeling to the track for some wicked dance floor action, while Discomendments round the release off in quality deep & sultry fashion.“ Justin Wilkes (Kiss 100 FM) - ”This is going in the poolside box for Ibiza and Mallorca!"

Games (That We Can Play)
I saw Oneohtrix Point Never at ATP the other week. Mesmerising. Met Daniel (Lapatin) before the show and he was a lovely man too. Very chilled.
Daniel has another project called Games which is superb too, whereby he works with Joel Ford of Tigercity. I’ll be playing Shadows In Bloom at our DJ sets this weekend. Speaking of which, here are the details:
Friday 27th May – The Victoria, Birmingham. Launch of the Out of Bounds label, appearing alongside Discomendments
Saturday 28th May – Bull’s Head, Birmingham. Thisistmrw show, launching Mark E‘s new album Stone Breaker. Getting great press at the moment. Album of the week at Picadilly Records.
