@discordandrhyme ~ didn’t we plot this one a lifetime ago?
Revealing his nature to Leonardo had not been viewed as a mistake. In spite of the boy’s arrogance and pompous intellect he found him easy to trust. Even if he wanted to study him as if he were some science project. What he was had nothing to do with science, he had corrected him time and time again. It was magic that had made him into what he was. Yet Leonardo was insistent. And why shouldn’t he allow him some fun with it? So he would showcase his speed, his healing ability, but never his weaknesses. He knew that the subject would be brought up. But he didn’t want to give himself an Achilles heel.
He knew the dangers revelation could bring about. Mikael was still on the hunt for them. Yet he had separated himself from his siblings. The hurt of the situation with his dear lost Katerina was still as fresh as the day it had happened. And he found himself yearning for distance far more than reconciliation. So it brought him to Italy, to see for himself if Leonardo could live up to the word he had heard about him. He would not admit to it but he was not let down, he was somewhat impressed even. A man ahead of his time, most certainly. A name to be remembered. This small bond would not cause any danger to his siblings. He was sure of it.
Leonardo, although very intelligent and creative, was still very young. He might not think it or see it. But he had much to learn. Elijah had walked centuries upon this earth, seen great men fail to live up to potential. Perhaps that was why he had shown him what he was. To give him something that would allow him to see that there was so much more out there that he did not understand. And he was determined to teach him that he could not and would never know everything. A lesson he had tried his very best to teach to Niklaus. But thinking of his brother was a raw thing still.
The place that he works reveals to him the inside of his friends mind. Chaotic and alive, brimming with ideas. Unfinished or in working stages, not yet complete. Every time he steps inside he finds himself discovering something new. Once all this is over he wonders if he would compel all these memories away. Compulsion. He had only spoken of the power to Leonardo. He had never demonstrated it. And he wondered if he even believed it. His abilities were such a strange thing to fathom, he knew. Much like Leonardo thought his genius was something hard to fathom.
“You know already that I’m capable of inhuman speed, that I heal myself, I cannot be killed, I can control the minds of lesser beings.” He says, with a small hint of a smile as if to suggest that Leonardo, even with all his intelligence was still a lesser being. He picks up a dagger from one of the tables and holds it out to him. “You’ve prodded me enough of such things but this is something new. Cut yourself, anywhere. Make it fatal. And if you can stomach the thought of drinking my blood you’ll heal. Unless, of course –“ he takes a step towards him. “-you’re afraid.” Dauntless and inventive Leonardo though, he didn’t think he would ever see the man afraid.
