Disparia
((kinda long, put under a cut. my first real attempt at really writing anything myself, pls don’t kill me if it’s terrible.))
“Hey! Pointy ears!”
What. Vel should be alone in her room, here... Cautiously, she picks up her sword, standing up from her table and scans the room. No one is here? Who in the world said that, then? Moreover, who would have the gall to call her pointy ears in her own living space?
“Good, you can listen! Now that I’m attuned to you, I can tell you what to do!”
The half-elezen turns her head sharply, eyes darting around the room in every direction, unable to pinpoint the sound... which seemed to be coming directly from her mind. There’s no one here. Who is saying this? How? Is someone playing tricks on her?
“Right, this must not be a normal thing for you. Yes, it’s me, your sword talking. No, you’re not crazy. Not yet, anyway.” Did it just laugh? The sword is talking? What is going on here? What kind of blade did Kaguya give her? So many questions, starting with: “What the hell are you? How are you talking?” The sword’s first response is to simply laugh at her again, a dull, condescending cackle that rings through her head.
“Well well! Let’s just say I’m sealed in here! It’s rather unfortunate that your cute lady friend - is she available, by the way? - had to pass me over to you! Had she held onto me for a little longer, I might’ve had her instead... Guess I’m stuck with you, since she killed my last owner. That pirate guy was a real drag, even though he did certainly like killin’ people.” It laughs again directly into Velari’s mind. It thought it was quite the comedian. “Yes yes, that means you’ve been carrying me around long enough for me to latch onto your aether! There seems to be a rather lot in here, do you never use it? Oooh, you can’t! How sad. Yeeees, I can hear what you’re thinking. How rude. You’ve got quite the foul mouth!”
Where the hell did this thing come from? What did it want?
“Look at you! So smart. Yes, I want something. And you’ll get it for me, yes? Of course you will. I need you to kill lots, and lots of people with me. Stab em right in there, real good! I need to have that blood, you see? Makes me real strong! Whattya say?”
“Why... Why in the hell would I do that? How could that possibly be a good idea? Listening to some random sword that tells me to kill people to make it stronger? Besides, I have no need of a stronger weapon. I have plenty of strength myself, you know? Surely you can see that much. I have no reason to listen to you; I should get rid of you, if anything!” She stares the sword down in her hands, as if speaking to it directly. What a sight this would be, were someone to walk in on her, yelling at an inanimate object.
“Ooooh! Feisty, huh? Yes, of course I can see your power! Why do you think I was so excited? Much better than the lame pirate guy I mentioned before. Although...” The blade goes quiet for a moment, letting an eerie silence fill the room. “What good are you if you won’t do what I ask? Yes yes, I can see this blessing. Alexander, huh? He always seemed kind of stuck up, to me. That kinda reflects on you. Maybe you’d be a little more willing to listen to me if you were... without it?”
“Withou-?” Moments after, a bright, yet dark and awful ebony light hums from the blade, seemingly siphoning a blue, vibrant light from her body. All the strength from her limbs rapidly leaving her, she collapses onto her hands and knees, dropping the sword in the process.”Wh-what... T-the f-fuck... Did... you... do...?” She struggled to keep herself upright, even in this position, under the weight of her armor. She eventually gives way, crumpling pathetically under it all. This... feeling... “Y-you didn’t... You... couldn’t have...”
“Oooohohoho! My! Aren’t you just dreadfully weak without it!” The sword’s delighted cackling rang throughout her mind, serving to anger her further... Not that Vel could do anything about it. “Well. This is kind of a problem, actually. How am I going to get you to kill anyone this way? You can’t even hold me up. Hm... Maybe I can get someone else to kill you and get me outta here. You see, I’m a bit stuck with you now that I’m attached to your aether... Until you die, that is. Maybe you’ll die on your own, collapsed under your own armor like that!” It lets out a disgusting cackle again, taunting her further.
