GOOOD EVENING TEAM, I’m back with Slightly More Expanded Upon DBH Dispatch AU! Random bits and bobs (ha) of story info here, imagined to the best of my capabilities;
- Elliot Connors, later known as Shroud, did some work for VandCo too before he turned to crime. He developed programming and a predictive software in particular, one based off of his own ability in some capacity.
- Robert Robertson the Third was never born. Bobby and Robbie were still Mecha Man, but in their civilian lives were more known for being extremely talented in robotics. Despite many attempts by various interested parties, they never sold or shared their designs - right up until Robbie was murdered, and VandCo just so happened to come into possession of his various projects (suit included).

- Androids are not, unlike in DBH, a wide-spread popular phenomena - instead, it’s a relatively small new venture from VandCo, one that’s a little too expensive for the current payoff, and is thus not very successful. Robertson technology, or their best approximation of it, is adapted into this, and Shroud’s code, but the project is in its earlier stages.
- The Astral Pulse, recovered from the Mecha Man suit, had been lost at some point, until it was rediscovered by someone in the project who then went on to design a prototype that would use it for a main power source instead of their current fuel system thingy. (I am not a tech guy 😔 suspend your disbelief for me). For shits and giggles, they called the prototype “Robert” in an homage to the Robertsons.
- But there’s something… strange about Robert. He turns out more human than the others, somehow.
- (Insert… idk probably traumatic shit for Robo-Bob here. Stress testing, dehumanisation, etc? Classic Android Is More Sentient Than They Know Stuff). He learns to conceal the fact that he’s sapient, for fear of decommissioning, probably.
- Then; disaster! Shroud breaks out, and comes looking for the Pulse. He has people break into the lab looking for it, and things are wrecked; Robert is severely damaged fighting them off, and no longer functions at full capacity (??? Or something). VandCo is suddenly dealing with bad publicity from Shroud’s attack, and damage to some very expensive equipment. So, for. Reasons. They send Robert the Prototype to SDN to work as a dispatcher. Etc etc etc.
I’m not sure I like the “skinless version” here and may scrap it,,, but for now yeah that’s him. Flayed. <3
