My name is Sam Yuill 28 years old from the UK and have been a Padi professional for 4 years, Travelled and dived Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Egypt, Vietnam, Indonesia I found diving on a holiday to Egypt and fell in love with the underwater world and the idea of being able to show others what I have seen. Since then I travelled to Asia to explore and learn what I can and came across Buddha view. I travel once a year and settle in different locations and return to koa toa Buddha view between jobs for further education. Whether you are a young traveller exploring or complete family Buddha view has it all, Pool, classrooms, restaurants, beach, bars, boats and very important sociable people to share experiences with and have some good fun whatever you enjoy. I myself enjoy the education part that Buddha has to offer as well as the friendly people always there that surround you, I’m looking at a permanent position with Padi the largest dive organisation in the world, the pleasure of getting people wet and seeing faces light up after going for a dive for the first time or people moving to professional levels where new students take part in becoming padi instructors or dive guides to do what I do, I love it all with such passion. Right now 2010-2011 I’m working in Indonesia one of the most stunning places in the world to dive just like Thailand,, a remote island called Bunaken Island, I run a dive operation within a resort where we have 3 boats catering 15-30 people to take part in first time diving, courses and even snorkelling if diving isn’t for some,. I look after everything here to do with water activities, all our equipment and compressors, engines, boats and guest relations within the resort alongside the teachings of diving and guiding and its great,,, “Hard life” what do you think?? Darius and Mark at Buddha view have been a light for me to follow, watching them every day and learning from them at Buddha has shown me what I can do and I took a leap and jumped into it,, I did many courses at Buddha view and extended my stay a few times where I felt I could learn more and more and I was never asked for anything,, such a pleasure to be there and always invited back to help out if I want whenever I want. What have I learned from Buddha? Becoming a dive guide is one of the most challenging part of being a padi professional , much time after becoming a instructor I went back to study some categories like,, tides and tables, weather, currents and water movement, extended fish identification, photography in detail, compressors, equipment and repairs Patients and understanding of the guests and students in front of you always changes person to person and you must ask the right questions and apply the right information and always step back and think before you speak. What I have to show? I’m now a Padi Staff instructor with a few courses away from my master instructor rating, experienced Discover scuba diving teacher, now a experienced dive guide for all types of divers, Specialties inc gas blending which is very handy to fill tanks and maintenance, nitrox, deep, drift and photo which I use all the time teaching or not, first aid instructor which I must say I’m a little rusty but I’m happy to say I could save a life if I needed to.
