DJBC Tumblr Fall 22 - Highball Halloween

Highball Halloween returned to in-person and the Short North for the first time since 2019, after being held at KEMBA Live in 2021 (due to COVID Restrictions).

The festival was relocated to the corner of Goodale and Park Streets, rather than returning to High Street.

New this year was a family-friendly component, with family and pet costume contests. That was emceed by NBC4 anchor Matt Herchik, and now-former NBC4 traffic reporter Andrea Henderson.

The regular evening event, with the Costume Contest, the Fashion Couture Contest, and live music, was emceed by NBC4 Today anchors Matt Barnes and Monica Day, with Virginia West as their co-emcee.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 22 - Worthington Market Day

Every Fall, the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce shuts down High Street in Old Worthington for an outdoor market. It is usually held around the first B*ckeye football road game (because it wouldn't make sense to do it when the B*ckeyes are a few miles down the road at the Shoe, now would it?) after Labor Day, which in 2022, didn't happen until October 8.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 22 - MilVets Veteran's Day Parade 2022

The MilVets (Ohio) Veteran's Day Parade took place yesterday in Downtown Columbus. And there could not have been more perfect weather for it. There were floats, businesses, city and county offices, high school marching bands, and of course, Santa Claus himself in the Parade through Downtown Columbus.

The Arts in the Alley Festival is held in the Grove City Town Center in Downtown Grove City on the third weekend of every September. On Saturday morning, there is a parade that lines up the streets of Downtown Grove City with marching bands, organizations, and candidates.

But the main draw to this weekend festival is the Arts and Crafts Festival, which lines up along the side streets of the Town Center, as well as the Voice of Grove City Singing Competition. The latter was held virtually in 2020.

DJBC Tumblr Summer and Fall 22 - Bexley Labor Day Block Party & BrewFest

The second annual merged Labor Day Block Party and Brewfest returned to Main Street in Downtown Bexley, as there were family-friendly activities and live music for all ages, an egg drop, an electric car show, and then Brewfest, which raised funds for Alzheimer's research as several local breweries had samples for adults (21+) to enjoy.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 2022 - Columbus Italian Festival and Parade

Mangia! Mangia! Mangia!

The Columbus Italian Festival returned to the streets of Italian Village earlier this month. The festival, held in the streets surrounding Saint John the Baptist Parish, celebrated all things Italian Culture. There was traditional Italian cuisine, live music (from traditional Italian music, to opera, rock, and big band), and the return of the Parade and High School Band Competition.

Here are some of the highlights from Sunday at the Italian Festival, with Parade highlights included. Congrats to the "Pride of the Pioneers", Jonathan Alder High School, from Plain City for winning the Band Competition, and for Best Percussion, as well as runner-up, the Columbus East High School Marching Band, the Mighty Marching Tigers.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 22 - The 2022 Columbus Marathon

The Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon was this past weekend. Over 11,000 runners raced the streets of Downtown Columbus, the Near East Side, Bexley, the South Side, German Village, the Short North, the University District, Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and Arena District. The race raised over $ 1 million for Nationwide Children's Hospital, which has been the beneficiary of the race since 2012.

Here are highlights of the race running through the Near East Side, with the last of the runners racing east on Broad Street towards Bexley, and then waves of runners headed west through Olde Towne East, before heading south towards Nationwide Children's Hospital and German Village.

The 2023 Columbus Marathon is October 15, 2023. And it is always held on the THIRD Sunday of October, in case you forget again next year. For more information, go to http://www.columbusmarathon.com.
