Southern New Hampshire University’s new Augmented Reality (AR) learning experience was designed as a supplement to online courses, expanding on written and video tools with 3-D formats accessed through the student’s own smartphone. AR allows students, particularly those who are hands-on learners, to engage in a learning experience that offers real-world, hands-on perspective. AR is a fusion of virtual reality and real life, providing students with an opportunity to interact with virtual contents in the real world – with the ability to affect seemingly real-world change through the use of computer-generated imagery. The result is an authentic learning experience based in augmented technology – and limitless possibilities for new ways to foster new skills and knowledge.
